Questions we love hearing at Fetch dvm360 in National Harbor: How is AlphaFlo® stored? How does it compare with PRP and stem cell therapy? Where does it fit in a busy practice?

Mark Besançon, DVM, Erica Dunphy, DVM, and Victoria DeMello, DVM, spent the conference talking through those questions with clinicians and sharing their own experience with AlphaFlo®.

Thank you to every veterinarian, technician, and practice manager who stopped by.

Missed us in National Harbor? Bring the conversation to your clinic. Book a Lunch & Learn and our team will walk your staff through the science, handling, and storage of AlphaFlo®: https://alphaflocanine.com/lunch/

Urgent care asks a lot of a veterinarian: fast decisions, stressed families, and patients who can't tell you what's wrong. Our featured veterinarian built her clinic around meeting those moments.

Megan Usiak, DVM, is the founder and Medical Director of East Valley Urgent Pet Care. She began her career as a veterinary nurse, trained extensively in emergency medicine, and earned her veterinary degree from the University of Glasgow. Seeing a gap in accessible urgent care in the East Valley, she opened one of the region's first clinics dedicated to it.

In her words: "I want to be an advocate for those who don't have a voice and be a source of security and help when a family and their pet need it."

She has also mentored veterinary students, coordinated clinical training, and collaborated with veterinary colleges internationally. Outside the clinic, she spends her time kayaking, hiking, and biking with her family.

Thank you, Dr. Usiak, for the leadership you bring to urgent veterinary care.

It's the night before the big one, which means costumes are being tried on, chewed off, and put back on again as we speak.

Whether your pup is dressed as a ghost, a pumpkin, or just deeply unimpressed with the whole situation (we see you, buddy), tonight and tomorrow are for showing it off. Fur real, we live for this stuff.

Drop a photo in the comments or tag us so we can see the whole spooktacular lineup before the candy runs out.

AlphaFlo® is a canine amniotic tissue allograft. The tissue is recovered during live birth without harm to the mother or the puppies, then cryopreserved to help protect its naturally occurring proteins. Veterinarians incorporate it into a dog's care plan as a way to supplement, protect, and support tissue, always at their own discretion.

It is prescription only and administered by a licensed veterinarian, not something an owner can purchase or use on their own. If you are curious whether it has a place in your dog's care, the first step is a conversation with your veterinarian.

Acral lick dermatitis can turn into one of the more frustrating cycles in general practice. A dog licks a spot raw, the raised tissue that forms makes the itch worse, and the itching brings the dog right back to the same spot again.

In this documented case, AlphaFlo® was incorporated into the dog's care plan at the veterinarian's discretion alongside the practice's usual approach to breaking that cycle. This is one case, not a guarantee of how every dog with this pattern will respond, but it is worth a look if you or your veterinarian are working through something similar.

A senior wellness visit works best when it follows the same structure every time, checking weight trends, mobility, activity level, and comfort at rest even when nothing looks obviously wrong. The changes that matter most are usually the gradual ones, easy to miss unless someone is tracking them on purpose.

Practices that build this into a standard part of every senior visit tend to catch shifts earlier, and owners tend to trust that nothing is being missed along the way.

Take a look at what a standard senior protocol could include at https://alphaflocanine.com/senior-canine-wellness/.

Every batch of PRP or other autologous therapy depends on the individual patient it came from, and preparing it means culturing cells or harvesting tissue before it is ever ready to use. That wait is one of the more common frustrations veterinarians run into with autologous options.

AlphaFlo® skips that step. Because it comes from donor tissue rather than each patient's own blood, it is ready to use as soon as a case calls for it, no culturing delay and no harvest procedure standing between diagnosis and use.
