Ardmore Memorial Day Parade The Lower Merion Memorial Day Committee invites the community to the annual Ardmore Memorial Day Parade.

The Ardmore Memorial Day Observance takes place each year on Memorial Day. The event begins with a concert by the Merion Concert Band at 9:45 AM at the Township Building. At 10:30 AM, the parade steps off from Greenfield Avenue and processes on Lancaster Avenue to St. Paul's Cemetery for the Memorial Day Service at 11:15 AM. A grand marshall is selected each year and the parade is lead by the Leon

Spencer Reid Post Color Guard Auxiliary, followed by the marshals and dignitaries, piper Daniel Emery, and other parade participants. Spectators will see First Responder units, veterans and civic groups including the members of the Lower Merion Township Police Department, the Wynnewood Civic Association, the Historic Car Club of Pennsylvania, Lower Merion Community Watch, the Merion Fire Company or Ardmore, the Leon Spencer Reid Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans from Post 547 of the American Legion, Eastwick Commandoes, Conestoga Angels and Command Performance.

The Lower Merion Memorial Day Observance will take place on Monday, May 27th, 2024, to honor veterans. The Merion Concert Band will play U. S. Military service songs and patriotic selections beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the corner of Lancaster and Argyle Roads. Parade participants are to assemble on Greenfield Avenue at 10 a.m. Children and families with decorated bicycles are welcomed to participate!
The parade will step off from Greenfield Avenue at 10:30 a.m., with a parade in review in front of the Lower Merion Township Building at Lancaster & Argyle. Families and children are welcome.
Spectators will see First Responder units, Township veterans and civic groups, drum teams, the Leon Spencer Reid Post veterans with color guard & auxiliary, drill teams, members of the Lower Merion Fire Department and Township volunteer fire companies, members of the Lower Merion Police Department and Lower Merion Board of Commissioners, Volunteer Firefighters’ Honor Guard, and others.
The parade will proceed to St. Paul’s Cemetery for the Memorial Day Service at 11:30 a.m.
Rev. Laura Tancredi of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Rabbi Geri Newburge of Main Line Reform Temple-Beth Elohim will share the invocation. Lt. Col. David E. Kelly, U.S.M.C. (Ret.) will officiate at the Memorial Service and Flag Ceremony, Taps, and Cannon Salute, which is intended to honor all of those who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. A benediction will be shared by Rev. Carolyn Cavaness, Bethel AME Church.

The weather looks good for the Lower Merion Memorial Day Observance today! Bring a chair and come at 9:45 AM to hear the Merion Concert Band play a concert including Patriotic favorites! The parade will step off Greenfield Avenue at 10:30 AM and will travel eastbound along Lancaster Avenue. The Memorial Service will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery.

Thank you to all of our military personnel and their families for the sacrifices they have made for our freedom.

This May 29th will mark the 76th Annual Ardmore Memorial Day Parade! Music, performed by the Merion Concert Band, starts at 9:45 AM by the Township Building, and the parade steps off Greenfield Avenue at 10:30 AM followed by the Wreath Laying Ceremony at St. Paul's Cemetery.

Veterans from all service branches and their families are invited to participate in the commemoration and are encouraged to submit names of those who served to be remembered as part of the commemoration. Names must be submitted by Thursday, May 18, 2023 for inclusion. For more information or to get involved, contact the Committee by email at [email protected]. The Lower Merion Memorial Day Observance will not occur Monday, May 31, 2021, for public health reasons. The planning committee expects to hold the usual observance next year as conditions permit. We look forward to gathering in 2022 to honor and remember those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

The Lower Merion Memorial Day Observance will not take place on Monday, May 25, due to the extension of Governor Wolf's Stay-at-Home order for Montgomery County until June 4. Despite the unfortunate circumstances requiring the cancellation of this event, let us honor and remember all veterans who died in service to our country.
