CLASS SPOTLIGHT 🔦Optical Geometry in Log Cabin Variations | Maddy Fraioli | 3-day class
Students will explore ten (10) different log cabin variations including Courthouse Steps, Barn Raising, Fields and Furrows, Flying Geese, Bow Tie, Pinwheel, Half Log Cabin, Pineapple, and Sunshine and Shadow.

Students will choose their favorite four patterns on linen (9” x 9” each with 4” borders) which will be turned into hot pads when all four are completed. Various finishing techniques for the hot pads will be taught including fabric bias, knit, crochet, stitched, applique, and braided edges.

These studies will serve as samples for larger rugs which students may wish to hook in the future and for which paper templates will be provided. Students may bring their own wool. This is a great class to use up your #8 cut worms, so get sorting! There will be hand dyed wool available for purchase in the classroom as well.

CLASS SPOTLIGHT 🔦Integrating Mixed Media into your Rug Hooking | Susan Feller | 1.5-day class
Students will meet one-on-one via Zoom with instructor prior to class to draw a design using digital tools. The instructor will work with each student individually to produce their original designs onto fabric. In the classroom, students will receive their fat quarter (approximately 18” x 22”) printed fabric designs along with hands-on instruction to create 3-D motifs (hooked or otherwise) along with construction, assembly, color planning, and problem solving for their project.

Students will learn a variety of digital design software and how to integrate current technology into a customized and personalized mixed media rug. Along with rug hooking, students may choose to include applique, embroidery, proddy, couching, and other forms of embellishment in their 3-D design motif. This class will inspire outside the box creativity!
