Congratulations to the AP Concert Band and Choirs on straight Division I ratings at State Large Group Contest! The tradition of excellence continues!

Congratulations to Riley Ward on coming in first place on the 2026 Justin Nelson Young Artists Competition sponsored by the Cedar Falls Municipal Band. The winner of this competition will get the opportunity to perform a solo alongside the CFMB in the summer (with his super proud director!). More details on his performance will be released at a later date.

Of the 12 auditioning, AP had three strong candidates, all of which were praised for their performances by the municipal band directors. Congratulations also to Lindy Aswegen and Savannah Hennigar for a great audition. All three students earned a Division I rating at Solo/Ensemble contest on April 11th.

Mr. Winkey was beyond shocked Tuesday night! What a ride it has been! Fifty years filled with incredible students that have become amazing adults with the current kids soon to follow. My thanks to some of my past students who took a moment to share a memory. Thanks to all who made this evening do special for me! 🥰

Congratulations to three of our talented 6th graders that participated in the M&M Honor Band in Jewell last weekend. They had a great time playing with other strong 💪 players around the state. They represented A-P very well. More Honor Band opportunities in the future for everyone!
