Update on the Future of the Treadhoofalon:

In recent weeks, organizers Lain and Julie Hawk have received numerous inquiries regarding the next Treadhoofalon event. While the pair will be unable to continue organizing the Treadhoofalon due to new obligations, there is promising news for the event’s future.

A few individuals have stepped forward expressing interest in taking the reins (no pun intended) and continuing this exciting charity event. Meetings are scheduled in the coming weeks to discuss possibilities, explore logistics, and determine the path forward.

“We are excited about the potential for the Treadhoofalon to continue and for the good it brings to all organizations involved,” said Lain and Julie. “This event has always been rooted in bringing all the McClellan trail users together for an awesome cause, and seeing that spirit carry on would be incredibly meaningful.”

💰 Check Drop #3!💰

When we started this event we wanted to help build relationships between all the different trail users and give exposure to the different ways we can enjoy our wonderful trail systems at McClellan. In doing this we can also make donations to each organization that we are fortunate enough to partner with.

Today we were able to donate $600.00 to the Wiggins Community Center! NEABA - Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association designated the Wiggins Community Center and their after school bike program as their orginazation for us to donate to. Today they had their annual fun road ride challenge. It was a great day to ride the road and mountain bike trails at Randolph Park. We got to meet and ride with some awesome and very respectful kids who may be a future podium finisher in a bike race in a few years!

Thank you to Carol Bush and Tammy Hall for the hospitality! They have a great program and a true hidden gem for The City of Anniston, Alabama!

Julie was such a wonderful asset to the community! She and her team were such great supporters of the Treadhoofalon! We greatly appreciate everything she did to help bring our idea to fruition! A special thank you to Kassidy Bissette Nance for all her work as well! We will miss you both and wish you the best in the future!

MDA transitions assets to Anniston. On Friday, Julie Moss, executive director of the McClellan Development Authority, was seen affixing a sign to the front door, marking her last day in that office. The sign read for any McClellan-related inquiries to contact the city of Anniston.

💰 Check Drop #2! 💰

When we started this event we wanted to help build relationships between all the different trail users and give exposure to the different ways we can enjoy our wonderful trail systems at McClellan. In doing this we can also make donations to each organization that we are fortunate enough to partner with.

This week we were able to donate $600.00 to the Sassy Tails Outreach Program! Today was the first Sassy Tails event of the year and it was exciting to see the smiles on the kids faces! Sassy Tails was designated by one of our wonderfull partners, Back Country Horsemen of America - Alabama - McClellan Chapter, as their chairty of choice. We were happy to be able to increase our donation by $200.00 over last year!

Receiving the check for Sassy Tails is founder Sherry Brown along with Sassy Tails volunteers and participants, Treadhoofalon representatives Julie Hawk, Lain Hawk, and Wes Hodge.

Be sure to check back soon to see where our third and final check drop will be! 💰

This looks exciting!!!!

This week, Preston York of FlowMotion Trail Builders presented the multi-use trail extension concept design for the 700 hundred acres across from the Camp McClellan Horse Trails on Iron Mountain Rd at the MDA’s quarterly meeting and the Regional Trails Committee meeting in Jacksonville.

As York explained, our vision for this property is to create a trail activity hub for hikers, bikers, runners, and horse riders, with carefully designed safety measures to protect and accommodate everyone.

The plans have been well-received by the trail community, and many are excited to see the project come to fruition. Tomorrow, York will present these plans to the Back Country Horsemen of America, McClellan Chapter to address pertinent questions regarding the multi-use design (seen below).

The MDA has always valued the diversity of our recreational community and worked to ensure equal representation for all trail user groups. We are grateful to Flowmotion Trail Builders for bringing this vision to life through this concept map, demonstrating that a multi-use trail system is not only achievable but also best suited for the property.
