Ballroom Dance Club at the University of Michigan Follow us for reminders & updates! Ballroom dancing includes partner dances such as ChaCha and Swing as well as the traditional Waltz and Tango.

From beginner classes for those with no experience & two left feet, to our advanced lesson series, we host lessons followed by open dance socials for everyone of all levels! Everyone is welcome, regardless of age. No university affiliation is required—just a desire to have fun! We offer classes for all levels of dancers. dvanced lesson series, everyone is dancing. No partner is required! During lessons, dancers are encouraged to rotate partners to accelerate the process of learning to lead and follow. We dance almost every Sunday and you do not have to be a student to join. We look forward to dancing with you!

Join us for the next couple weeks for lessons in international waltz with Ilkin H., an alum of the Michigan Ballroom Dance Team, class of 2004! 💃

Ilkin H., a specialist in standard, combines technical excellence with a genuine passion for helping others learn and grow. A longtime competitor and accomplished performer, she has earned numerous titles in both pre-championship and senior divisions, including 3rd place in the U.S. Dance National Championships in 2015. 🏆

A couple of our regular instructors, Jasper and Alison, enjoying our dance social 🪩 Thank you both for your support of UMBDC! Jasper and Alison are alums from the University of Michigan’s Ballroom Dance Team. They have been finalists in multiple U.S. competitions in ballroom, Latin, smooth, and rhythm.
