February 20th concert - Cinnamon Jazz Quartet.
7:00 PM, Route 11, Andover NH

The Cinnamon Jazz Quartet will present an evening of contemporary jazz at the Andover Community Coffeehouse. The quartet is made up of accomplished musicians from around the state including Cinnamon Blomquist on flute, Bill Wightman on piano, Jock Irvine on bass, and Joe Virga on drums, bringing both familiar jazz melodies as well as bold improvisations to the audience.

The Highland Lake Grange Hall is on the corner of Rt. 11 and Chase Hill Road in East Andover. Doors open at 6 pm for Open Mic sign-ups on a first-come/first-served basis, as well as sound checks and light supper food items available for purchase, provided by Donna and her crew from the Andover Community Church -- hot dogs, soups, desserts and beverages. The evening is free, although we "pass the hat" -- and donations are gratefully accepted to be shared with the featured performers.

Tyler Nail was amazing at our October coffeehouse. Beautiful guitar playing accompanied his deep and genuine songwriting. He sings from the heart with a warm voice.

Skip Gorman and Mark Burds on September 19.

For over half a century Skip Gorman has enjoyed singing, playing and performing an impressive and varied palette of traditional American and Celtic folk music as an accomplished singer, guitarist, fiddler and mandolinist. Skip has recently been making music with guitarist Mark Burds, who lives in VT and makes Froggy Bottom guitars. The musicians will perform together for us.

Skip's recordings have earned a prestigious NAIRD (INDIE) award, and been selected as a top ten folk pick of the year by Amazon.com. Filmmaker Ken Burns has used Skip’s original music on five of his celebrated documentaries and soundtracks.

The show starts at 7:00. Open Mic will start around 8:00.

Anya Hinkle joined us last night as our featured performer all the way from Asheville, North Carolina! Anya shared her original songs on her guitar, accompanied by fiddler, Minnie Jordan, from Brooklyn. About 60 community members came out to celebrate live music in our little town. What a great performance! Video clip in comment.

featuring singer/songwriter Mary Maquire... Doors open at 6:00 for food & open mic sign-ups! Music starts at 7:00! Highland Lake Grange Hall, East Andover

Tonight's featured performer is longtime New Hampshire singer-songwriter Mary Maguire, looking forward to sharing warm songs of the season with the Coffeehouse crowd. Long-time lead singer of The Mary Maguire Band, and co-founder of Sweet, Hot & Sassy!, Mary has taught many workshops at music festivals and been a guest artist on other musicians' recordings. More recently returning to her academic roots, Maguire is currently teaching Spanish and French, and yes, her guitar comes out in the classroom as well!
