Donut Run 5k

Donut Run 5k The Donut Run 5K is the only race around where you are rewarded for eating donuts! Some overflow parking will be available on side streets.

This annual event will occur on Saturday April 25th, 2026 this year at the Maple Shelter at Brookside Park in Ames, IA. Each donut you eat at the Donut Run 5k aid stations takes additional time off of your finishing time. Careful though--we enforce the Chucky rule which states that anyone who loses his donuts before the finish line starts his or her count over at zero! We award runners in the foll

owing categories: Best Run Time (Men & Women), Best Doughnut Adjusted Time (Men & Women), Most Doughnuts Eaten, Best Costume, and Top Team Score. Parking will be available in the Lake Ada Hayden Park parking lot on a first come first serve basis.

Good morning donut crazies,

Many of you have been asking about Donut Run 5k 2025. It is with a heavy heart that we will not be hosting the race this year; as of now, there is no plan for this race moving forward. Many factors have led us to this decision over the last few years. We recognize that Donut Run has become a yearly highlight for many of you, and for that, we are beyond grateful. It has been an honor and a great joy seeing the support for this event and the triathlon club at Iowa State over the last two decades! We hope you all will continue pushing the boundaries of what you think is possible and having fun along the way.

We are so excited to have Sólás provide our runners, walkers, and donut lovers with water at the finish line to help them recover and wash down the donuts!

Hey Ames area people! This Saturday, April 20th, is the Annual Donut Run 5k at Ada Hayden Park! Your run time will be decreased depending on how many donuts you eat during the 5k 🍩 and you’ll be able to wash it all down with a free can of Sólás water at the end!
