Nothing beats coming in from the cold to a hot drink! Whether you're power-fueling through an early shift or relaxing on a quiet winter weekend, everyone has a go-to warm beverage.

Now that we've looked at the history, let’s talk about why we still get dressed up and gather today. The Air Force Ball isn't just another formal event—it's the one night a year where we completely break down the walls between squadrons and ranks to celebrate as one team. 🎉

Here is why you need to be in the ball this year:

The Ultimate Tradition: From the solemn toast of the POW/MIA table to the cutting of the cake by the oldest and youngest Airmen present, you get to experience customs unique to our heritage.🎖️

Unmatched Camaraderie: It’s an opportunity to let your hair down (figuratively 🤷‍♂️), enjoy a great meal, and connect with fellow Airmen outside of our daily mission. 🥳

🥂 Air Force Ball Heritage Series: Part 1 – The History of the Ball 🥂

Long before the United States Air Force became an independent branch in 1947, our predecessors in the Army Air Corps knew the value of coming together to celebrate their shared mission. ✈️

The tradition of the Air Force Ball grew out of early military "Dining Out" and formal celebrations designed to build camaraderie after long, demanding deployments. In the early days of the independent Air Force, these balls were crucial for establishing a brand-new culture, giving a young branch its own unique identity, traditions, and pride.🎖️

Over the decades, the Air Force Ball evolved from simple hangar gatherings into the premier formal military social event of the year worldwide—and one right here at Altus AFB.

When we step into the ballroom, we are participating in a tradition that spans generations of aviation history.🛩️

⛳️ And that’s a wrap on the "Beat the Heat" Golf Dash! 🏌️‍♂️🏆

What an unbelievable day on the course! From the first tee-off to the final putts, the energy, camaraderie, and friendly squadron competition made this year's fundraiser an absolute blast.

First and foremost, we want to give a massive CONGRATULATIONS to our tournament winners!

🏆 1st Place: Team CE Electrical (Downing, Hamon, Rinderer, Hayden)
🥈 2nd Place: Team Dirty Drawers (Beatty, Ge**er, Herring, Lambros)
You all put on a clinical performance out there, outstanding job!

An event like this doesn't happen without a dedicated community. A huge thank you to all of our incredible players who brought their A-game, and an even bigger shoutout to our phenomenal volunteers! Whether you were flipping breakfast pancakes, helping people register, or keeping everyone cooled down and hydrated with refreshments, your hard work behind the scenes made this day a seamless success.
Every drink purchased, every swing taken, and every piece of merch bought goes directly toward making our upcoming Air Force Ball a spectacular night to remember.

A massive thank you to everyone who showed up and showed out for the "Beat the Heat" Golf Dash fundraiser! From the competitive squadron rivalry on the whiteboard to the incredible support at the registration table, you all made this event a massive win.

Because of your incredible participation and merchandise sales—including our limited-edition 97th Air Mobility Wing "250 Years of Freedom" tees, funds raised are going straight toward making this year’s Air Force Ball the best one yet.

Shoutout to the volunteers who kept everyone fed with a hot breakfast and kept the tournament running smoothly during the morning brief.

Looking to kick off your 4th of July weekend the right way? Look no further, the Air Force Ball Committee is hosting their 3rd Annual Golf Tournament!

Join in a fast-paced, 9 round tournament designed to test your skills against the base’s top golfers that will have you back with the family before it gets too hot! Prizes will be provided for 1st and 2nd place teams, with a closest to the pin competition played throughout! All teams that participate will receive a custom giveaway prize!
