Lee was a true gentleman, always smiling and always had time for you. You will be missed by so many and proud to say my friend.
Our thoughts go to you and your family. RIP 337.

It is incredibly sad that we have been informed that long-time oval racer Lee Fear has passed away this week after a short illness.

We ask that this Easter Weekend - in memory of #337 Lee - if drivers are able paint their bumper orange.

Lee, and his family, have been part of the furniture at race tracks, with Lee having attended meetings since he was just a baby - going on to race Rookie Rods, Superstox, Stock Rods and, more recently, Oval Track Legends.

He was also a lifelong Superstox fan and ran the Superstox.org website about the open wheelers for a number of years. He will be sadly missed by all: a true friendly face and one of the nicest people who went out of his way to help anyone.

RIP.

We have added an article to the Spedeworth/Incarace websites which was written by Lee himself shortly before his passing.

You can read it via the link below.

This has nothing to do with me, but with ever decreasing second hand parts available, could this need to be a bigger change than just a tyre and wheel size? Fair enough as Spedeworth are a business and want to make money, but are there other options for final drive other than solid axle?
Would a tranex gearbox help?
These are just ideas and not from Spedeworth Motorsport.
Any thoughts are free, none are right or wrong, just which direction do you want Superstox to go?

Superstox – Tyres Announcement Update

Firstly, I would like to thank all of the drivers for their input.

It was first of all to change to a cheaper budget tyre which was even my way of thinking but then people started thinking about the size difference between the BriSCA F2 tyre and the size of the Hoosier so therefore you could never get the gearing for big tracks like Ipswich and Hednesford and a lot of the cars for example RCE, the undercarriage hits the ground quite hard now. So, drop the car down by about an inch and we have got big problems.

I had about twelve drivers suggesting to leave us on the tyre we are on now but you can only have a new tyre on your every other meeting that you race. I believe this is the right way to go for now and give us more time to test and look for other tyres that maybe are bigger like a van tyre (13 inch) so this is the way that I think we are going to have to go for in the future but I believe it is time we started looking for another tyre and testing tyres through the season or think that maybe it is time to look at going onto bigger wheels maybe a 15/16/17 inch because 13 inch tyres are becoming more and more of a problem.

This is something for you all to start thinking and talking about so from now on for the rest of this season or upto the world final depending on if we change tyres you will only be allowed a new tyre at every other meeting that you race at and we are considering at the world final only allowing two new tyres and at all other major championships only allowing one new tyre.

We are going to allow drivers to register six tyres per meeting so you can get your money's worth out of a worn tyre where it might not do a full meeting but you can run it for one/two races.

I know this is not going to please everyone but someone has to make a final decision. I have spoken with Wully Hardie and Darren Black and we believe this is the best thing for now for Superstox.

Superstox – Tyres Announcement

Hoosier have informed us that the tyre price will be increasing from £97.50 to £113.00 inc VAT.

We at Spedeworth are starting to feel the price is getting too high for a contact formula but it is a big decision to make to change as you wouldn’t be able to police the one tyre rule so we are asking for drivers ONLY comments by either emailing [email protected] or calling Deane direct on 07836226682. We need to make a decision quickly as Hoosier have to make an order tomorrow and we have only just been made aware of this situation.

There are other tyres around £50/60 e.g. Yokohama/Pace/HiFly but additional buffing costs will be added and people will have four new tyres in their vans.

So, if drivers can come back to Deane ASAP on this matter.

If the vote is pretty even, Spedeworth will make the decision however, if the vote is all one way we will go with the drivers decision.
