Dawn Patrol has been an official event since 1997, but did you know the first ever pre-dawn flight took place in 1978?

After 6+ months of planning and special FAA certifications, California pilots Ken O'Connor and Ron Thornton ascended into the dark, quiet sky and witnessed the sunrise from hundreds of feet above ground, marking the first flight of what would later become the Dawn Patrol Show.
