April 4, 2026 was a magical day at Soft Corners! Our second annual Poetry & Fiction event served too as a reunion of sorts for folks who were at UNM in the early 2000s.

We realized that some of us knew each other only a year, but stayed in meaningful touch for the last 20+.

We marveled at how we've changed *and* not changed.

We loved listening to each other, and sharing space with everyone who chose to join us on that beautiful Saturday.

So many thanks to Danica Favorito, for painting and prepping the space. Our new "white box" lets the room more readily become *anything* you need it to be!

We needed space to share our old and new words, to talk with gravitas and humor about our writing, our peculiar obsessions, our love of books and community ...

Something very magical happened at UNM in the early 2000s. We feel so fortunate to have been part of it, and to be able to bring the party BACK!

MIL GRACIAS to this incredible group of writers! Every reading on Saturday was full of gems. We took an emotional, intellectual, and spirited journey together. Something we love about live performance is how it speaks to the group *and* individual - it needs the group, but everyone takes home their own buzzing experience.

Our 2nd Annual Poetry & Fiction Reading was FANTASTIC, and if you missed it, stay tuned for NEXT YEAR - tis an ANNUAL thing now!

Our Saturday was SPECTACULAR! We have more photos and notes to share, but suffice to say it was more of a reunion than anticipated, for folks who studied at UNM in the early 2000s!

The whole day was full of JOY, and we have such gratitude for every brilliant writer and every beautiful attendee!
