On Wednesdays, we dive into ART! And this time around, we want to talk about art collecting as an investment in happiness.
Pictured here are a handful of the pieces that sold our first year. They're wonderfully diverse, from style to medium and beyond. Each one spoke to its buyer. Each buyer said to themselves, "My life will be better with this work of art inside it."
One of the hidden benefits of running a gallery is that we get to commune with many of the pieces for weeks or months before they sell. We get to notice more and more about each one - brush strokes, "imperfections," tiny details, breadth of meaning. When you buy a work of art, you get to do that for the rest of your life: commune with it. Take it in. Understand it as deeply as you'd understand your most loved one.
Art breathes, it lives, and it stays with you. It's loyal.
Sometimes, a piece is demanding. Other pieces whisper.
Some pieces enthrall. Others dare you to come closer.
Each artist has an unmistakable eye that shapes everything they create - we all tend to know that. But we should also remember this: each viewer brings the whole of their experience to bear upon each piece of art they regard.
The relationship between you and the art you love cannot be replicated in any way. Your eye, too, unmistakably shapes how the art is received.
What speaks to you? What would you like to commune with daily? What do you want to see in your environment - home, office, business ...? Art collecting is, in our estimation, among the best ways to invest in happiness and on top of that, you get to leave the art to your loved ones, or museum of choice ... supporting artists and the world of art is among the best things you can do as a lover of the arts.
