New Mexico Comic Expo is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of legendary voice actor Peter Cullen, who died August 26 at the age of 85.
For generations of fans, Peter Cullen was the voice of Optimus Prime. From the original Transformers animated series to the big-screen adventures that followed, his unmistakable voice brought one of pop culture’s most beloved heroes to life. He also gave us the unforgettable voice of Eeyore, along with countless other characters throughout his remarkable career.
But Peter Cullen’s legacy was about more than iconic characters. Through Optimus Prime, he gave generations a voice that represented strength, courage, compassion, leadership, and doing what is right.
As his family shared following his passing, we should remember his legacy by leading with compassion, integrity, and loyalty—and by being strong enough to be gentle.
From all of us at New Mexico Comic Expo, our hearts go out to Peter’s family, friends, colleagues, and the countless fans around the world who grew up hearing his voice.
Thank you, Peter, for the memories, the inspiration, and a voice that will never be forgotten.
