This weekend is Leaf's Spring Thing at The Glades Festival Grounds, which is an event to celebrate the life of Adam Leaf Geschwindner.
The event will feature this year Groovin' performers The Cooley Gang, The Greens, Megan Jean’s Secret Family, and former groovers' Dr Bubbles, Chris Felton, and Andy Tuck. It also features a dozen more of Leaf's friends + family.
Leaf was an OG member of the Groovin' family from day 1. His band, Bat's Dynamic String Band, was the first band to play a note at the original Groovin' back in 2017. They kicked off the only Thursday night we ever had of the festival for Bat's We**ie Roast. Leaf was pretty well known in the festival scene from his washtub bass that was topped with antlers.
Leaf was the official emcee of Groovin' #2 where he introduced the bands with his own style. He even forgot one of the headliners Jon Stickley's name and called him Jon Stick after we yelled his name out from backstage! He also was Artist at Large at the festival sitting in with a few acts including the Shady Grove Super Jam.
Leaf and his final band Get Off My Grass led the late night campfire Jams at Groovin 4 + 5 where you could sample his moonshine. His moonshine was often featured in his festival famous Holler and Swallers that he led along with the crowd.
We will be raffling off 2 tickets to Groovin' as part of the fundraiser where all proceeds from the event + raffle benefit The Frostburg Music Academy Bluegrass Jam Camp. You can also purchase $100 Groovin' hardcopies off of the bands listed above playing on this year's fest.
