To our Albany Community :

When we took over the Rainbow House we listened to numerous customers that Albany was in need of a true steakhouse, so we took the leap. We repainted the inside, rebranded and converted the restaurant upstairs into a steakhouse while operating the bar, pool hall, and event center downstairs.

We are proud of what we did to make that vision a reality. It was a leap of faith for sure, but one we were willing to take because you told us you wanted it. Throughout that process we got an enormous amount of feedback. From praise on our efforts to constructively pushing us to be better, we listened. We tweaked. We adjusted our operations to better serve you. As with any growing business, we’ve continued to learn and adjust each step of the way.

However, at this time we have decided it is in The 520’s best interest to close the steakhouse. Simply put, we weren’t getting enough traffic to maintain the high quality you’ve come to expect. We experimented with new ideas like our recent buffet, in an effort to give you something new and affordable, but we still had days where not a single table was served. Instead of continuing to throw good money after bad, and risk the bar and other areas of The 520. We decided to be smart and proactive about the situation.

Just because the steakhouse is closing, does not mean The 520 is going anywhere. We still have food, and as many of you know, the bar, pool hall and event center are going strong. We are currently working on re-branding the upstairs restaurant area into a concept that is more stable and can thrive in the long term. The steakhouse is not off the table for The 520’s future, but for now we need to regroup and focus on what will work.

Albany, you are our community and your feedback is important to us. Without your support, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We are committed to providing a product that you want and will continue to strive each and every day to make The 520 your new home away from home.

The 520 will continue to thrive, but the steakhouse is done…for now.
