UPDATE: We've got a really long line for these rides already. We are putting a soft cut line on how much of the line the pilots think they can get through by 2 PM. You're welcome to still hop in line, but we can't guarantee that they will get to you.

--

How about a nice surprise for your Saturday morning? Until 2 PM (or until the weather stops cooperating), we're offering FREE tethered balloon rides!

All ages are welcome, but children must either be able to stand on their own or be in a baby carrier attached to an adult.

We have some tips for the FREE Consolidated Precision Products Main Stage KC and The Sunshine Band concert on Saturday, August 23 at 8pm at Timber Linn Park.

~NEW this year, there will be no wristbands given out upon entry.

~There will be two lines, one on each side of the amphitheater.

~The amphitheater will open up at 10am and seating is first come, first served.

~No overnight camping is allowed. (The park is closed from 11pm-6am)

Factory sealed water, juice, and soda is allowed (no glass). Food is allowed in the amphitheater, along with anything purchased from onsite vendors. Outside alcohol is not permitted. Any kind of reusable container brought in from outside must enter the festival grounds empty. We have water refill stations on site.

You can bring your own chairs or blankets (no tarps or area rugs) into the amphitheater. Please note that we do not guard them throughout the day; most people are respectful of other's items and don't move them.

We love putting this FREE concert on for the community! We also love happy people. We can't wait to see everyone's smiling face on Saturday morning.

You can also check out our website for information on the entire festival! www.nwartandair.or

Let's talk about pets.....we get lots of questions asking if this is a pet-friendly event...

Morning Launches: No pets, please.

1) Pet waste getting on the balloon envelopes...makes a pilot very unhappy.
2) The balloons can be loud and scare animals. It is for the safety of staff, pilots, crew, riders, and your pets!

Main Stage Concert Amphitheater: No Pets. The crowd is thick, and it is not a good place for your pets.

The festival in general: We really encourage you to leave your pets at home. With all the activity, people, noises, and fun...pets are best left in the comfort of their homes.

We know your pets are fabulous (ours are good too!). Unfortunately, not all pets react the same to new environments, when in doubt leave your pets at home!

As always service animals are welcome. Service animals are trained working animals, not pets.

We thank you in advance!

Hate traffic?? We do too!

We have worked with the Albany Police Department, ODOT, and Public Works to ensure we have the best traffic plan possible! Attached are maps for coming to the festival and exiting the festival!

Please understand that we can do a lot to help traffic flow, but we have limitations. One is that the park has one way in and one way out. Any time you go to a festival, concert, or sporting event with thousands of people traffic is going to take some time. Please be patient, we know it isn't fun to sit in traffic.

TIP: It is best to enter from Knox Butte Rd onto Timber St or turn right onto Price Rd.

PLEASE NOTE: Goldfish Farm Rd. is unfortunately closed for construction at this time between Dogwood Ave. and HWY 20. No festival traffic is allowed through the construction area.

We have hired a professional parking management company. Please listen to the parking attendants. Do not jump curbs. Pack your patience. Be kind to people. Please understand we are doing everything we can to make parking and traffic flow better, but nothing is perfect, and nothing is quick when thousands of people and cars are involved.

Come early to avoid the last-minute rush. The concert starts at 8pm.

Parking is $10 a day and you can come and go as needed. We thank you in advance for your attending and we hope you have fun.

We have lots of people show up to the festival expecting to see hot air balloons hanging out in the fields all day. We wish it was that easy but it unfortunately takes a bit more for a hot air balloon to fly! Morning lift offs on Friday (8/22), Saturday (8/23), and Sunday (8/24) morning, as well as Night Glow on Friday (8/22) evening are the only times you will be able to see hot air balloons. Morning inflations are scheduled to begin around 6:15am, come early to avoid the rush and savor the entire morning experience. Night Glow is at dusk around 7:30pm, again come early to enjoy music and avoid traffic!

A little more about the science behind a hot air balloon: If we’ve determined the conditions are safe for flying, pilots start to inflate the balloon using large fans. They first fill it with air that is the same temperature as outside, and once it’s mostly inflated, they use a propane burner to heat the air. As the balloon is filled and heated, it will move from a horizontal position, lying on the ground, to a vertical one, standing straight up. Direction wise you never know where a balloon is going to go because the wind controls it, the pilot doesn't. The pilot can send a balloon higher or lower to get in different wind channels but does not steer it in a specific direction.

A balloon flies because of the difference between the inside air temperature and the outside air temperature. The hotter it is outside, the hotter they have to heat the balloon to make it fly.
Hotter air rises, so once they lift off, they just add more heat to fly higher in the sky. If they want to go down or land, they use the burner less often and as the temperature of the balloon cools, it descends.

For Night Glow, the balloons are tethered to the ground, held down by volunteers. We need virtually zero wind in order to keep them up safely and able to properly use the burner to have them "glow". This is why we never know if Night Glow will be 5 minutes or 25 minutes. It can get pretty difficult to keep a giant balloon on the ground when it is made to fly! Night Glow is unpredictable. It is not a guarantee that balloons will be able to inflate and glow. The pilot will only use the burner to light up the balloon but not too much so it will stay on the ground easier. Since the envelope of the balloons is so delicate it cannot stay up in wind higher than 8-10 MPH. Night Glow can sometimes be shorter or longer depending on the wind and weather. We know that when balloons don’t get up for Night Glow, people become really upset. We can assure you; we are just as upset! Our first priority is the safety of the crew, pilot, and passengers.

Hopefully you will join us to watch these magical balloons either at Night Glow (Friday night only, 8/22) or morning lift offs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning.

The CoEnergy Propane morning hot air balloon launches are August 22-24, with inflations beginning at 6:15am in Timber Linn Park in the south soccer fields. The entire morning lift-off process is a magical experience you will not want to miss, so we recommend getting here early so you don't miss any of it!

Come early to beat the traffic and get a place to park! Parking will be in the general parking (yellow) lot at the fairgrounds at the north end of the park or in the ADA lot (orange). Attached is a map with traffic flow arrows. The best way to enter is from Knox Butte Rd. It is very difficult to make the left turn from HWY 20 onto Price Rd and gets backed up very quickly. The vendor parking lot will have limited parking for people with limited mobility. The other portion of that lot is closed on Friday, August 22 to accommodate vendor check-in. Also, please note that this year Goldfish Farm Rd. is closed to festival traffic from HWY 20 to Dogwood Ave.

All balloon launches are weather permitting. If the balloons don't launch due to the weather, we will try to post on Facebook as soon as possible...please be understanding that we try our best but sometimes we post late due to many other moving parts of the festival. If you are traveling from out of town, it can be a gamble. Our weather officer tries to wait as long as possible to call it for weather, they don't like to disappoint, but it can get canceled if the weather is not safe to fly.

Thank you for your understanding!
