As of today, we are resigning from hosting any more tournaments. It’s not worth the effort, time, and money we put in to continue hosting tournaments. In years past we had a ton of door prizes donated to each event, we have always held a publicly available 50/50 raffle, and ALWAYS held 100% payback events. We may reconsider if there are people willing to step up and help out with documentation, finding more sponsors, and help with organizing events. I know a lot of you may be disappointed but just know that I personally, and my fishing partner can no longer do this alone. We are many months out from when our tournaments are usually scheduled so if anyone wants to message me to assist in keeping these events going, I’m willing to hear what the public has to say and offer. If we don’t hear from anyone within the next month, sadly I’m going to have to pull the plug on the events. Hopefully someone or several people willing take an interest in helping this continue but if not, we had a great run. Thank you all who have supported and participated in our events!!

Due to the greed of the Village of Catskill we will no longer be hosting tournaments there. We are a 100% payback format to ensure all entry fees are put 100% back towards the anglers for prizes, we always do a 50/50 raffle which the proceeds go to my partners family for the lose of their son to cystic fibrosis and we usually get some sponsors to do giveaways such as gift cards, rods, miscellaneous tackle… The 50/50 raffles are open to the public in the park if they would like a chance to win and in the past, some have. I can not ask the anglers who participate to except a lesser payout than 100%. A good majority of the anglers come from New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Those folks are stopping at Stewart’s or Cumberland farms in the local area spending money that otherwise wouldn’t be spent. I personally can not afford to foot the bill for permits and launch fees and i dont expect it to fall on the anglers. They are not charging the general public for launching, just anglers in tournaments. Before i get the schedule set up i will personally be reaching out to the village of Catskill and other villages along the river with boat launches. Feel free to calll the number on the sign and voice your opinion because your opinion DOES matter! Thank you everyone for your continued support and participation!

I would like to thank everyone who showed up to fish today out of Catskill, and a huge congratulations to Christy and Allison for coming in first place and lunker with 5 beautiful Hudson River smallmouths! Well deserved and well earned! 20.04lbs for 5 smallies anchored with their 4.62lb lunker. Christy is a a great fisherman along with his partner and girlfriend Allison. Christy and Allison took home $770 between first and lunker, not to mention Christy and his brother drew won $900 last weekend at the Bergen Bassmaters open in Catskill. The Hudson River is a game of chance, the fish are either there, or they’re not. Christy proved the past two weekends, he can find’em and find’em he did! Second place with another excellent bag of smallies was Dustin and Nick with 18.66lbs anchored with a 4.50lb smallie! Congratulations and hope to see everyone next year and hope to see more new faces. Please share the page to help increase participation, today Keitech USA donated two rods to anglers who entered based off random draw and we always do 50/50 raffle at every event which proceeds go to the Haight family for the loss of the son to cystic fibrosis 5 years ago today. Let’s make the Hudson River great again!🎣🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

Today was our final tournament of the year out of Athens boat launch. Mike and Dale took first and lunker with 20.31lbs for five largemouths anchored by their 6.30lb lunker. Dave and Billy took second with a beautiful bag of smallies for 18.31lbs with a 4.56lb kicker. The main river is around 45-46 degrees with some creeks being cooler and some being a little warmer. Thanks everybody who fished this season, next season we will only be hosting two events to hopefully gain more participants.

Today out of Athens boat launch we only had 4 boats which is beyond disappointing, but Mike and Dale came in first and lunker with 20.76lbs for five anchored with a 5.48lb largie for lunker for a total take of $600. The main river is 46-47 degrees with the creeks being a little on the colder side. Next Saturday is our last event of the year which is also out of Athens boat launch. Next year we will only be hosting two events and if participation does not increase, it will be our last year hosting. Everyone begs for more tournaments each year on the Hudson, we make it happen and participation has only decreased. Not sure what we’re doing wrong especially with all the past years we’ve had giveaways just based off entry, 50/50 raffle at each event but it’s come to the point where we’ve realized it’s not worth the effort we put in to host 100% payback events for only 4 boats to show up. Not to mention we lost all sponsors due to lack of participation. Please all take in to consideration what it takes to put these together and getting up extra early when we could just go fish for fun with our friends and family. Thank you to all the dedicated anglers who have always supported and fish, Meals on Reels tournaments.
