The John S. Knight Center was buzzing with creativity as we welcomed Hoffman Media’s Original Sewing & Quilt Expo to downtown Akron! 🧵✨
Throughout the convention center, passionate makers, artists, and enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the timeless craft of sewing and quilting. Our exhibit halls were transformed into a vibrant marketplace filled with vendors offering beautiful fabrics, patterns, tools, and materials—everything needed to spark the next creative project. Guests explored aisles of colorful displays, connected with fellow creators, and discovered the latest innovations in sewing and quilting.
One of the most exciting parts of the event was the opportunity to see craftsmanship in action. Live demonstrations—ranging from quilting techniques to hands-on upholstery work—captured the attention of attendees and inspired both beginners and experienced sewists alike. Meanwhile, classrooms and meeting spaces across the facility were alive with energy as participants took part in educational workshops and sewing classes led by expert instructors.
The Original Sewing & Quilt Expo is a traveling event that brings its creative community to cities across the country, and we were proud to serve as its hub during its stop in Akron. In partnership with the Akron-Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Expo also expanded beyond our walls, utilizing additional locations throughout the area to broaden the experience and create an even larger footprint for attendees to explore.
Behind the scenes, our teams worked collaboratively to bring the event to life. From the earliest planning stages, our operations team partnered with event organizers to design a dynamic floor plan that maximized every corner of the exhibit hall—creating an engaging flow between vendor exhibits, demonstration spaces, and learning areas. At the same time, our food and beverage team kept guests energized with delicious meals and convenient concessions service throughout the event.
Seeing our spaces filled with creativity, learning, and community is what makes hosting events like this so special.
