On January 24, 2026, the Cushman family experienced a tragic barn fire. In the fire, their girls lost their beloved 4H show bunnies, tack, supplies, memories, and so much more.

Mrs. Kelly Cushman has single-handedly helped revive 4H in Aiken, SC, dedicating countless hours to creating opportunities, experiences, and lifelong lessons for her 4H kiddos. Her passion for agriculture education and the love and care her girls pour into their animals and projects does not go unnoticed.

The Western Carolina State Fair Foundation understands the lasting impact community support can have during difficult times. Agriculture teaches responsibility, compassion, hard work, resilience, and leadership — but one of the greatest lessons it teaches is the importance of community. In moments like these, it is important that our youth see people come together, support one another, and help rebuild after loss.

Our Jr Fair Board was honored to present the girls with a new bunny (Ellie) along with supplies to help replace what was lost for both their bunny and show goat projects.

When someone pours their heart and time into our youth and agriculture education, we must support them. They are helping raise the next generation of leaders, and that matters.

🎡 What a week at AikenFest!

From the rides to the food, the laughs, the lights and all the memories made… this year was one to remember.

We loved seeing families, friends and the whole community come out and enjoy it with us.
