Congratulations to our champions from the Strantz Shootout on Pawley’s Island last weekend.

Several flights had packed leaderboards after day 1 at True Blue. Sunday’s final round at Caledonia saw several players pull away with spectacular scores. Our flight winners took home a $500 Visa gift card prize along with a beautiful trophy to pretty up their mantle.

In the Champ flight, Marais Lombard shot a blazing score of 30 on his final round front nine to quickly erase a 3-stroke deficit from Round 1. With 6 birdies on his way to a closing round of 69, Marais won by three shots while also collecting several skins.

In the Albatross flight, the final round lead changed several times with 3 different players grabbing the top spot at some point during the round. By the time the final group reached the 16th tee, Michael Segarra had built a 7-shot lead and held on for a two stroke victory.

After Day 1, the Eagle flight looked like anyone’s to win, with 8 players (!) within 3 shots of the lead. On Sunday, former TheGrint Cup Champion Matt Rickle took command with a Super Skin eagle on the par 5 8th hole to shoot an even par 35 on his opening nine. He blitzed the field by 10 strokes on his way to shooting a personal tournament best 74.

In the Birdie flight, Virgil Crow was tied for the lead after Day 1 but struggled on the front nine Sunday to fall 3 back. He turned things around with a clutch birdie on the par 3 11th hole. He played just steady enough the rest of the way while his nearest competitors slumped to earn the victory by 4 strokes.

The Par flight was a three horse race through 27 holes. On the final 9 holes however, Joseph Hazelwood avoided big numbers while his opponents found trouble. He made up 6 strokes with a bogey and a par on holes 10-11 to take the lead and not look back, finishing 4 strokes clear of the field.

Congratulations to all of our Strantz Shootout winners! Great clutch play at two very challenging courses.

Next up, our first regular event of the new year takes us to Sapona Club in Lexington, NC for the Spring Fling at Sapona. Registration closes Thursday. So get signed up today!

Congratulations to Tour Member and past TheGrint Cup Champion Matt Rickle and his running mate Rahul Subramanian for winning the Presidents Day Duel at Highland Creek. The 2-Man Best Ball Net format proved very competitive with 7 teams finishing within 4 strokes of the winners.

Team Rickle-Subramanian caught fire on the back nine, making 5 birdies in a row from Hole 12 to 16, including 2 gross birdies. That scorching stretch gave them a cushion to survive two closing bogeys and still win by 2 shots at 5-under par.

The team of Alex Newton and Conner O’Toole had a chance to match that total, only needing a birdie at the short risk-reward par 5 closing hole to force a playoff. The dream vanished with a disappointing bogey, however, and Alex and Conner had to settle for second place.

Matt and Rahul took home the trophy and $800 in Visa gift cards, while our second place finishers found solace in their $400 prize. There were a boatload of skins, including 2 net eagles, that split the $720 team skins pot. All in all, the NC Tour kicked off 2026 baked in sunshine and ready to run TheGrint Cup race once again.

Next up, our first individual event of the new year takes us to Sapona Club in Lexington, NC for the Spring Fling at Sapona. Registration is now open for this tournament to be held on Monday, March 16th. See the link in our bio to sign up.

You might as well call it “The North Carolina Cup”. Your NC Tour squad went down to Clemson, SC and brought the Cup back home for a second straight year.

In our annual battle versus the SC Tour, we dominated the team matches at Clemson’s Walker Course and won 21.5 to 14.5 for a resounding team victory. With 6 nine-hole matches of 2-Man Best Ball Net, 6 of 2-Man Modified Alternate Shot and 12 singles, our squad grabbed the Carolina Cup early and won going away.

Our team consisted of 12 veteran Tour members, most of whom finished in the Top 5 of their points race or won an event this year. Everyone won at least 1 match on Saturday.

Scott Clark and Stephen Lemmons teamed up for 2 wins and then both won their singles matches. Scott won his singles match 4 and 3 to clinch the winning point early and take this year’s MVP honors.

Congratulations to each team member who took home $100 for being part of the winning squad and Scott Clark who won the $100 MVP bonus. The Carolina Cup will be proudly displayed at each NC Tour event next season.

Join us for the 2026 kickoff event in 2 weeks on Veterans Day at Verdict Ridge.

Our 2025 NC Tour season raced to the finish line on Saturday 9/6 at Rocky River Golf Club. The Tacos 4 Life Tour Championship not only crowned our Tour Champions but also TheGrint Cup winners. Rocky River’s slick greens provided a stiff test for our field of 58 players and a fitting challenge to close out our Cup races.

In the Champ Flight, Marais Lombard torched Rocky River’s back nine with 5 birdies, shooting a 5-under 31 to follow a front nine 37 for a 4-under total 68!

The Albatross Flight was also won on the back nine with Chris Cassino playing the stretch run in 1-over par 37 to finish off a 79 and win by 1 stroke for his first victory on Tour as a new member.

The Eagle Flight featured a thrilling battle between the two players fighting for TheGrint Cup in our Pebble Race, Stephen Lemmons and Matt Rickle. After a roller coaster front nine featuring 3 birdies, a double and a triple bogey, Matt turned it on down the stretch to shoot 39 coming in, forcing a sudden death playoff for the Tour Championship trophy. Matt sealed the win with a brilliant up and down on the first playoff hole, sinking a 12-footer for par.

Sven Levister found redemption in the Birdie Flight at Rocky River. After just missing the trophy at Warrior with a final hole mistake, he made a clutch par on 18 this time to seal a one-stroke victory and finish off a stellar round of 81 for his first trophy of the season.

The Par Flight was our only runaway, with Longview Challenge winner Jonathan Smith making two birdies in a steady round of 81 that blew away his competition.

Congratulations to all of our flight winners who took home a $300 Visa gift card and the biggest trophy of the season! 2nd place winners took home $150 Visa gift cards and over $2500 was paid out in Skins money!

Champ Flight: MARAIS LOMBARD
Albatross Flight: CHRIS CASSINO
Eagle Flight: MATT RICKLE
Birdie Flight: SVEN LEVISTER
Par Flight: JONATHAN SMITH
