Keep the 2027 MTFF going | support MTFF

Since our first year, the Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival has always been free and open to everyone.

We believe that films is an effective way for everyone to understand Taiwan. That’s why we don‘t want ticket prices to be a barrier.
What we want is to invite people of all ages and cultural backgrounds to experience Taiwan through films.

Now 2027 MTFF is in the works!

From film selection, screenings to post-screening sessions with the directors, every part of the festival is made possible with your support.

When we first announced the return of this year's Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival, we wrote: "Five years on, and we're still here — gathering through film, story, and light."

As in years past, we were fortunate to have like-minded intern and volunteers join us in bringing the 2026 Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival to life.

Over just three days and four screenings, we stood alongside these companions at ACMI and witnessed connections form between audiences, cultures meet across difference, and the power of post-screening conversations with directors to move us all. These fleeting, luminous moments left a shared imprint on everyone who was part of it.

The films ended. The lights came up. The crowds slowly dispersed. This weekend, we gathered with the people who made it happen — not just to say thank you, but to look back together at the moments that stayed with us. It is in gatherings like these that we, a group of Taiwanese far from home, find ourselves writing our own festival story.

"Isn't the view spectacular?"

And with that, the 2026 Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival draws to a close. The moments we built together, the memories forged at ACMI or online through chance and circumstance, will flow forward with time, becoming part of a life story still being written.

Until next time, when the lights at ACMI dim and the screen comes alive once more, and another Taiwanese film finds its audience in the cinema —

一開始宣布今年墨爾本台灣電影節回歸時，我們寫著：「五年了，我們還在這，以電影、故事與光影相聚。」

和往年一樣，我們有幸與志同道合的實習生與志工，一起完成了 2026 墨爾本台灣電影節。

短短三天、四場電影的放映，我們跟這些夥伴在 ACMI 見證觀眾之間的連結、不同文化的交流，以及導演映後座談所帶給大家的感動。這些吉光片羽的時刻，也在每一位參與者心中，留下一部分的共同記憶。

電影結束，燈光亮起，人群漸漸散去。這個週末，我們與一起努力的夥伴聚餐，不只是致謝，也在餐桌上回望今年那些令人難忘的片刻。這樣的時刻，讓我們這群在異地打拼的台灣人，共同寫下屬於我們自己的電影節故事。

2026墨爾本台灣電影節至此畫下完美的句點。那些共同完成的時刻，那些因緣際會在ACMI 或線上共同走過的回憶，將隨著時間流轉，成為我們未完的人生故事一部分。

期待下次，當ACMI 燈光調暗，銀幕再次亮起，又一部台灣電影在戲院與大家相聚。

You can enjoy 大濛 A Foggy Tale on Netflix now!

Thank you to everyone who came and lined up for standby tickets throughout the festival 💛

Especially for A Foggy Tale, the response was far beyond what we expected, and we’re truly sorry we couldn’t get everyone in.

現在Netflix 也可以看到《大濛》囉！還沒看的趕快看，看過的也上去二刷、三刷吧🥰

感謝特地前來排隊候補的觀眾，特別是《大濛》的觀眾直接將ACMI塞爆了！

很抱歉因為滿場的情況而無法讓候補觀眾進場，這是出乎意料的驚喜，未來我們也會持續努力，規劃更好的方式讓所有觀眾都能如願看到台灣電影！

Thank you all for your enthusiastic participation and support throughout this year’s festival. We were especially honoured to welcome Pan Ke-yin, Shen Ko-shang, and Tang Sheng-jung in person for post-screening Q&A sessions with audiences in Melbourne. We were also delighted to have Chen Yu-hsun join us online from Taipei following the film’s final screening there, sharing this special moment together with audiences in Melbourne.

“Light flickers across the screen, while time continues to flow.”

This describes not only every Taiwanese film we screened, but also every audience member who came to ACMI to take part in the Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival, as well as the festival team itself, now reaching its fifth edition.

We would like to invite everyone to help us build this year’s Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival photo wall by sharing your festival photos. Every Taiwanese person in Melbourne, together with local audiences, has helped weave a shared Taiwanese landscape through your participation and presence. Please also feel free to tag us! We’ll definitely come by and say hi within a like.

Of course, you are also warmly welcome to leave your reflections, comments, or questions that you may not have had the opportunity to ask during the sessions.
