What an unforgettable closing to the Black Consciousness Festival 2025. The final final screening of Walter Rodney: What They Don’t Want You to Know brought a full house, deep insights, and an audience whose engagement made the conversation truly powerful.

Thank you to our conversation participants, Dr Charissa Granger, Ruth Osman and Tyker Giselle for their brilliance, and to everyone who showed up, leaned in, and contributed to this transformative dialogue. 🖤🔥

What an engaging and interactive discussion after the screening of Môa: Raiz Afro Mãe!

Led by (from left to right) Dr Janique Baker-Dennis, Sean Samad, Jamie J. Philbert and Rondel Benjamin who engaged with the audience's questions and comments. Issues about our cultures, practices, access, balance, eldership, youth engagement, cultural sensitivity, humility, the state of African diaspora, Brazilian realities and much much more.

We thank all who attended and our conversation leads.

Today we honour Black Consciousness Day — a day to remember the ancestors, freedom fighters, thinkers, artists, and everyday people who carved pathways to liberation. We stand on the shoulders of those who resisted, created, dreamed, and reimagined what freedom could look like.

May we continue the work: awakening, organizing, healing, and building a future rooted in dignity, justice, and collective power.
Their struggle is our inheritance. Our liberation is their legacy. ✊🏾🖤
