Join us for an interactive storytelling session of Nour’s First Haircut! Through games, movement, and storytelling, little ones will discover the beautiful lesson of istikhara—learning to seek Allah’s guidance when making choices. And they also get to unleash their creativity through a fun, hair-inspired craft.

The 1st of Muharram came and went but some of us may have missed out on its significance other than reciting the du’as for end of year and for the new year.

New Year's resolutions is not something new but when it comes to Muharram, the Islamic New Year, let’s purify our intentions to do things for the sake of Allah.

So although we may have missed making intentions on the 1st of Muharram, it's never too late. What could help, instead of coming up with an exhaustive list, is to pick 2 to 3 things to work on and follow through on it. For example, one of the intentions can be not to delay prayers and to do the 5 prayers on time, etc

So let's set our intentions for the Islamic New Year (if you haven't already) and may we all achieve what we intended in shaa Allah.

MashaAllah, we are already at the last 10 days of Rabiul Awwal. It’s been a month packed full of activity in schools and masjids, Alhamdulillah, and I love how it is filled with remembrance of our beloved Prophet s.a.w.⁣
⁣
The best du'as are those that come from the Qur'an and sunnah. They express exactly what our souls need. So when you are at a loss for words, a whole library of possible du'as is available for us and we can try to memorise those that speak most to our hearts.

Our children are very curious creatures and I’m sure we’ve been asked this question at least once.⁣
⁣
We want our children not to lose hope in their du’as and not be doubtful about how their du’as will be answered.⁣
⁣
Arm them with knowledge about du’a. If they are making du’a and feel that they are not being heard, how do we give them hope to continue making that du’a regardless?⁣
⁣
We can tell them that some are answered but not in the way we asked for. And that sometimes they may be asking for something that isn’t good for them and so Allah replaces it with something better.⁣
⁣
And that ultimately we should view du’a as an honour because Allah is enabling us to make that du’a, to remember Him and say His Names.⁣
⁣
Tell them and ourselves that we should shift our focus on enjoying the process of making du’a and not be concerned of its answer.

“It’s nothing.” ⁣⁣
“You don’t have to be scared.”⁣⁣

Simply saying these words to children isn’t enough. It's easy to tell children to not be afraid. But it's not going to work. Even as adults, we have our fears. Have you been alone in a dark, unfamiliar place that gave off creepy vibes? It doesn't take much to let our imagination run wild in such situations. We're just lucky that our brains are better developed as adults and we have the ability to rationalise.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
For children, it may be harder for them to push away such thoughts. We need to give them tools to deal with such situations. What can they do when they feel afraid? What should they say when the fear creeps in?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In ‘Fear, Please Disappear!’, Ilham's father tells him a story to help him deal with his fears. We hope that story will help you and your children too.

Ma, who is Allah?⁣

Don’t we all get these questions from our young ones who are curious to know more about Allah? They are full of fitrah, keen to know more about their creator. ⁣
⁣
Sometimes, we can’t find the exact words to answer their questions in a way that will satisfy them and the questions keep coming.⁣
⁣
Our books help make it much easier for children to know more about Allah through His various attributes. Through ‘Where No One Can See Me, children understand that Allah is always with them. In ‘The Window’s Secret’, they learn the beauty of du’a and how Allah is All-Hearing. If they have ever asked, why didn’t Allah answer my du’a, they will see the hikmah behind all the types of du’as made through Ilham’s story. In ‘The Tale of the Red Cloth’, they see how Allah is the giver of rizq and what is meant for them was always meant to reach them (and what was not meant for them was never meant to reach them). As for ‘Hatem the Deaf’, they see what it means to be kind and how we should emulate kindness, following Allah’s attribute, Ar-Rauf. ⁣

And in our latest book, they are introduced to Allah’s attribute, Malik Al-Mulk, the owner of all creation. Through the story, as they read about Ilham, they will see how fears should be handled. They will see the wisdom in reciting Ta’awudh and calling on Allah. How? By simplifying this abstract concept through storytelling. By linking it with their everyday experiences.⁣
