What do you get when you combine 23 cyclists, Singapore’s signature humidity, a charity mission, and hills that belong in a Greek tragedy?
You get Cycling Without Age Singapore’s Punishing Charity Ride—also known as “The Day We Questioned All Our Life Choices… but for a good cause.”
We showed up smiling, brave, and slightly overconfident. We ended the ride with cramps, sun-roasted butt cheeks, three different tan lines, mysterious aches, and a newfound respect for our own survival instinct.
But ohhh… every inch of pain was worth it. Because we were not just cycling - we were suffering beautifully for charity.
The weather?
Humid enough to steam a dumpling. Overcast enough to give false hope.
The route?
Rolling hills with 1,000m+ elevation, designed by someone who clearly hates happiness.
The riders?
A heroic mix of seasoned cyclists, first-timers, and a few who did not realise what they signed up for until the third hill.
Fortunately, we had an all-star support crew:
-A massive team of volunteers who kept us alive
-A medical team ready for cramps, collapses, and emotional support
-A bike mechanic who deserves a national award
-Aid stations that looked like heaven on earth
And despite tyre punctures, bike tantrums, sweaty meltdowns, and the universal curse of numb bums, we conquered both 70km and 111km like champions.
To our fundraisers and donors - Thank you for believing in us, supporting Cycling Without Age Singapore, and turning our misery into meaningful impact.
From the bottom of our (slightly exhausted but very full) hearts - THANK YOU.
Because at the end of the day…
the pain fades, the tan lines stay,
but the good we did? That lives on.
