Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society - SIFAS

Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society - SIFAS Kala Samskriti Lakshanam - "Art Characterises Civilisation"
www.sifas.org The Society began humbly in 1949 with only 12 members.
(1)

Today, it has a Principal, a Vice-Principal, 28 highly qualified full-time tutors, over 2000 members and students.

Developing and sustaining that curriculum has by far been one of the greatest challenges for the Society, but one that has yielded many benefits. It has fostered homegrown talents and created an awareness and understanding of the Indian cultural heritage, which is particularly valuable in the multi-ethnic Singapore.

SIFAS had the pleasure to welcome long-time member, former Management Committee Member and donor, Mrs Kokila Sundararajan, to our new campus at Middle Road.

She was accompanied by Dr. Sumithra Balasubramanian, wife of former SIFAS Trustee Dr. Balasubramanian. Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with members of the SIFAS family whose dedication and support have contributed significantly to our journey over the years.

We thank them for their continued encouragement and look forward to creating many more memories together in our new home.

An evening of grace, discipline, and years of devotion.

SIFAS is proud to celebrate the Bharatanatyam Arangetram of Eashaa Pillai, disciple of Guru P. N. Vikas.

An Arangetram marks not just a performance, but a beautiful milestone in a dancer’s journey — where learning, dedication, tradition, and artistry come together on stage.

We wish Eashaa and her Guru all the very best for this special occasion and look forward to witnessing an unforgettable evening of Bharatanatyam.

Special gratitude to accompanying musicians
Guru T. Ramanan (Mridangam)
Smt Harsh*tha Vidya (Vocal)
Guru Ganesh Kumar N.N.R(Violin)
Sri Tiruchi L.Saravanan(Flute)

Sharing a glimpse into our activities last week at the Singapore Heritage Fest 2026! ✨

Led by Guru Raguveeran and his students, we conducted a drop-in activity for festival-goers, wherein participants created carvings on lino pads and printed them onto paper to produce designs inspired by Indian textiles and fabrics. With members of the public from different age groups taking part, it was heartening to see the care and effort everyone put into making their artworks neat and detailed.

Further, the talented students of Guru Lalitha and Guru Geethanadhan also presented classical Bharatanatyam pieces that beautifully showcased the richness and heritage of Indian classical arts. The audience was captivated by the vibrant performances, which were warmly received throughout the evening.

A heartfelt congratulations to our talented gurus and students for making this possible. Our visual arts activities at the festival will continue on 22 & 23 May, at Asian Civilizations Museum, from 5-7pm.
