Collaborating Towards an Ambitious Cinematic Vision
Members of Tagore Society Singapore had the privilege of attending an exclusive curtain raiser for The Tagore Trilogy, held at the Singapore Indian Association. As Singapore prepares to mark 100 years since Rabindranath Tagore’s historic visit in 1927, it was especially meaningful to gather at the Singapore Indian Association, an institution closely associated with that memorable visit.
The first film of the trilogy is planned for release in May 2027 to commemorate the centenary.
Presented by Beyond Boundaries Creative, the project will reinterpret three of Tagore’s celebrated dance dramas as contemporary English-language feature films. Arindam Dey and Manojit Senn shared the vision behind the trilogy, highlighting its exploration of universal humanism through themes of migration, love, separation, identity and belonging. The films are planned for international release, multilingual dubbing, and distribution across OTT platforms, bringing Tagore’s timeless message to audiences across the globe.
Guests also learnt about the distinguished creative team behind the project, including acclaimed music director Pandit Bickram Ghosh, while enjoying an evening of engaging conversations, networking, and dinner with fellow patrons of the arts.
As the Cultural Partner for this landmark initiative, Tagore Society Singapore is honoured to support a project that celebrates Rabindranath Tagore’s enduring vision of humanity, creativity, and universal connection.
We congratulate Beyond Boundaries Creative, Arindum Dey, Manojit Senn, and the entire team, and look forward to following this remarkable journey in the years ahead.
A special mention to Abhijeet Mukherji, who did an excellent job as the Master of Ceremonies, bringing warmth and grace to the evening’s proceedings.
Alongside, Dr Paromitra Chakraborty and Ms Paromita Nag added a beautiful musical touch to the evening with their soulful renditions of Rabindra Sangeet.
