More than 3 years ago, Singapore United (way before it became a trending hashtag) was started to celebrate our country’s wonderful diversity through sport. And one of our biggest supporters has been the Bangladeshi community. A community that has, in recent weeks, come under attack on different fronts. Through no fault of their own. No-one deserves this. There is no 'them' and 'us'. We're all in this Covid-19 crisis together.
Apart from donating, we wanted to do something else to help. So for those that don’t know, the guy below is Mushfiqur Rahim, a member of the Bangladesh cricket team and one of the biggest sports stars in a country where cricket is like a religion. Many thanks to him for doing this at short notice and to Mahfujur Rahman & Zahid Chowdhury for arranging it. If you're part of, or familiar with the Bangladeshi community and related NGOs, please share this. We hope it will give some fleeting comfort and raise morale in these difficult times.
