Singapore International Band Festival -SIBF 10th Singapore International Band Festival

The various components of this Festival – Competition, International Band Exchange, Workshops and Outreach Programme, help us to promote band activities beyond schools and provide a platform where band members of all levels continuously strive for excellence to raise the standard of bands in Singapore and abroad. Through these activities, participants will also have an opportunity to experience th

e dynamic quality present in wind music repertoire in Singapore and around the world. This competition has been carefully planned to enables band members to unleash their potential and creativity. With various divisions, bands would be able to choose and perform within their most comfortable level, allowing them to focus well throughout the learning process. Steered by an Artistic Committee made up of established music professionals from various local and international organisations and institutions, the Competition will take place at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music concert Hall, Esplanade Concert Hall and other outdoor venues from 26 to 31 July 2016.

SIBF 2026 REQUIRED PIECES ANNOUNCED

The Wind Bands Association of Singapore is proud to unveil the official Required Pieces for the 10th Singapore International Band Festival (SIBF) 2026.

Following a rigorous review by our international jury panel, a curated selection of works has been chosen to inspire, and showcase the musical excellence of participating bands from the Division 1, 2A and 2B.

We look forward to hearing your performance on stage at SIBF 2026.

Thank you to all the composers who have submitted their works for the 3rd WBAS Composition Contest! Winning works may be selected as required piece for the 10th Singapore International Band Festival 2026!

We are thrilled to announce the world-class panel of adjudicators for the 3rd WBAS Composition Contest. This year, we’ve seen responses with submissions arriving from across the globe, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Spain, Belgium, and Japan.

Tasked with evaluating works inspired by the Singapore Soundscape, our jury features three of the most respected names in the wind band world:

🇸🇬 Zechariah Goh (Singapore) – Acclaimed composer known for his brilliant fusion of Western and Asian musical traditions. 🇦🇺 Jodie Blackshaw (Australia) – A world-leading voice in innovative and inclusive wind band literature. 🇯🇵 Eiji Suzuki (Japan) – One of the most celebrated and prolific composers in the Japanese wind orchestra scene.

Do you have a creative spark that can capture the essence of Singapore’s identity? The 3rd WBAS Composition Contest 2025—in conjunction with the 10th Singapore International Band Festival 2026—invites you to compose original wind band music inspired by our local soundscapes and heritage.

Why Participate?

Three tailored categories—Easy (3–5 mins), Medium (4–8 mins), Advanced (7–15 mins)—open to multi-movement pieces.

Draw inspiration from iconic “Sounds of Singapore” such as the Noon Chime, Asian Koel’s Call, or SMRT platform chimes like the Trishaw or Singai Naadu—creatively and meaningfully woven into your composition.

Winning entries may be selected as test pieces at the 10th Singapore International Band Festival 2026—a platform for global exposure.

Open to all composers worldiwde.

Important Update: New Dates for the 10th Singapore International Band Festival (SIBF 2026)!

In light of scheduling adjustments, the 10th Singapore International Band Festival will now be held from 21 – 27 July 2026 (previously announced as 27 July – 2 August 2026).

We look forward to welcoming bands, musicians, and music lovers from around the world to Singapore for this milestone edition of SIBF — filled with inspiring performances, competitions, and musical exchanges.
