Harry Kane equals Wayne Rooney on Premier League away goal record
Harry Kane tied with Wayne Rooney for the all-time record for Premier League goals away from home when he netted in Spurs' 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.

The England captain slammed in a penalty to go level with his former Three Lions teammate on 94 top-flight league goals on his travels. It's taken Kane just 138 games to reach the landmark, while Rooney required 243 appearances.

Kane had already gone clear of Premier League legends like Alan Shearer (87 goals), Frank Lampard (85) and Andy Cole (83).

The goal also took him level with Lampard as the league's fifth all-time top scorer on 177 efforts.

Kane will have the chance to move clear of both Rooney and Lampard next week when Spurs visit Brighton on Wednesday. Despite performing reasonably well at Old Trafford, a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick saw United bounce back from their shambolic defeat at Manchester City and boost their Champions League qualification hopes, damaging Tottenham's in the process.

Fabinho opens up on when he signed for Real Madrid

Fabinho has revealed how he found out he would be joining Real Madrid in 2012 as well as opening up on his bizarre first encounter with Jose Mourinho.

The Brazilian never quite broke through at the Bernabeu, only ever making one appearance for their first team before making his name at Monaco and later Liverpool.

The Reds star has now revealed how he signed for Los Blancos, claiming the Castilla side needed a right back - the position he played before developing into a defensive midfielder.

“We arrived in Portugal, but I stayed around at Rio Ave for just two weeks, maybe three at the most,” Fabinho told FourFourTwo.

“I had a barbecue with other Brazilians and then my agent called to say that Real Madrid Castilla [Real Madrid reserve team] needed a right-back and wanted to know if I was interested.

“Then one night, Lucio [Araujo, brother of former Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder Deco], came and told me to pack my things because Jorge Mendes was on his way by car in the early hours of the morning.

“I was like, ‘Is something wrong?’ Nobody said a word, but then at some point in the car, Mendes said we were travelling to Madrid and that I would sign for them.

“I called my mum in Brazil to tell her about that and she started to cry.

Mourinho was managing Real at the time, having just guided the club to La Liga's title in 2011/12 - their first in four years - and Fabinho revealed he was not prepared for their first encounter.

“We headed to the hotel in Madrid, and while I was still sleeping, I woke up to somebody knocking on the door,” Fabinho added.

“I looked through the peephole and couldn't believe it. It was Mendes and Jose Mourinho! I was still wearing my pyjamas, not at all prepared to meet him. I didn't even know what to say.

“He wanted to welcome me. I was still a bit shy and never thought I would meet him like that!”

Premier League
Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle: Player ratings as Kai Havertz seals late win

Chelsea just about secured a 1-0 win over Newcastle after a tough and testing clash at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel's side found it tough to break Eddie Howe's men down, but an 89th-minute strIke from Kai Havertz saw them take all three points.

A tight and tense opening period saw little in the way of chances, with Fabian Schar's header across goal - only for it to be cut out by Edouard Mendy - after 25 minutes the closest either side came to opening the scoring.

Havertz similarly flashed a cross right through the six yard box at the other end before Mason Mount whipped a free-kick into the side-netting, fooling half of Stamford Bridge that it had in fact gone the right side of the post.

A glancing header from Dan Burn nearly dropped into net, and the lofty centre-back was in the wars soon after when he received an elbow in the face from Havertz. The German received a yellow card for the challenge, a decision which remained following a VAR check.

Miguel Almiron's 20-yard volley forced Mendy into a stunning save at the end of the first half and the two sides went into the break goalless.

Newcastle had the first half-chance after the interval when Bruno Guimaraes sliced a shot narrowly wide, while referee David Coote was unmoved by Jacob Murphy's claims for a penalty when hauled down by Trevoh Chalobah.

Chelsea had a penalty shout of their own when Martin Dubravka brought down Timo Werner, but the German had been flagged for a marginal offside.

After failing to threaten for 76 minutes, Chelsea should have taken the lead when Hakim Ziyech's cross was placed delicately onto the head of Havertz, but he was unable to steer the ball either side of Dubravka who held it comfortably.

And with stoppage time looming, Havertz finally found the back of the net when Jorginho played a sumptuous ball over the top of the Newcastle backline, and this time the Germany international held his nerve to slot past Dubravka to steal the win.

Jadon Sancho reveals England teammates wanted him at Chelsea & Liverpool

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has admitted that he is only now starting to ‘break free’ following a tough start to life at Old Trafford after his £73m summer transfer.

Sancho’s arrival back in England was a long time coming. United had identified him as a target as early as 2019 but were unwilling to meet Borussia Dortmund’s firm asking price in the summer of 2020. When he finally did make the switch last year, his start was underwhelming.

The England international, who had been billed by some as one of the final pieces in the United jigsaw, found himself in and out of the team in the opening few weeks of the season and often on the bench. It is only since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked that he has started more regularly, while he has begun to justify his price tag more and more in recent weeks.

After only one direct goal involvement in his first 18 Premier League appearances, Sancho has managed four in his last five alone – including a fine goal against former club Manchester City before the team’s collapse in the second half.

“I'm very self-critical,” Sancho told Sky Sport Deutschland. “It certainly [hasn’t been] my best season, but I have learned a lot. A new league, new teammates. I would say that I'm only now really starting to break free. I feel more and more comfortable and happy.”

The 21-year-old admitted that players from rivals Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool, were also trying to tempt him to join them instead when he was in the process of considering his next move after Dortmund.

“I met Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw with the national team. They always said: ‘Come to United’,” he explained. “There were also the guys from Chelsea and Liverpool, who all tried to convince me their club, but it only really got serious after Euro 2020.”

FC Barcelona
Barcelona predicted lineup vs Galatasaray - Europa League

Barcelona turn their attention to Europa League football on Thursday night, hosting Galatasaray in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

Xavi's team are in fine fettle at the moment, heading into this midweek battle with six wins in their previous eight across all competitions, winning their last four and scoring 14 in the process.

Those four consecutive victories include the second leg of their round of 32 encounter with Napoli, in which they blew the Italian outfit away courtesy of a phenomenal 4-2 triumph - securing a 5-3 aggregate win.

Thursday night brings with it a meeting with a severely disappointing Galatasaray side, that has lost seven in its previous 11 in all competitions, winning just twice in that time.

Bradley Wright-Phillips to join New York Red Bulls recruitment team following retirement

After announcing his retirement from playing on Tuesday, Bradley Wright-Phillips is expected to take up a role on the New York Red Bulls recruitment team, sources tell 90min.

The English striker achieved legendary status with the Red Bulls between 2013 and 2019, scoring 126 goals in 240 appearances across all competitions and winning three Supporters' Shield titles.

His exploits in New Jersey saw him win the New York Red Bulls' MVP award on three different occasions, while he was also named to the MLS All-Star and Best XI line-ups two times each.

Prior to his glittering Red Bulls spell, Wright-Phillips turned out for the likes of Manchester City, Southampton, Plymouth Argyle, and Charlton Athletic in England, while he closed out his career with one-season stops with LAFC and the Columbus Crew.

Former MLS teammates such as Sacha Kljestan, Eduard Atuesta, and Kaku all posted messages of support on Wright-Phillips' post, as did father and former Arsenal striker Ian Wright.

Sources tell 90min that 'next chapter' will see Wright-Phillips return to Red Bull Arena to join RBNY's recruitment team. The specific role the 36-year-old will play on the staff remains unclear, but a space recently opened up when head of sport Kevin Thelwell left to replace Marcel Brands as Everton's director of football.

"I'm done," Wright-Phillips wrote on Instagram. "Thank you to all of the clubs that gave me the opportunity to represent the badge. Thank you to all my team mates, coaches, fan bases for your support (ups and downs) but most of all thank you to my friends and family, especially my wife Leanne. I couldn't have done this without you. Onto the next chapter."

With three victories on the spin, Leicester will be keen to continue their momentum when they welcome Rennes to the King Power Stadium in the first leg of their Europa Conference League last-16 clash.

The Foxes dispatched of Danish outfit Randers in the previous round in a 7-2 aggregate victory, following it up with successive wins over Burnley and Leeds in the Premier League.

Rennes are likely to offer a stiffer test with the French side currenty sitting 4th in Ligue 1 and boasting three victories in a row themselves after a 2-0 win over Angers last time out.

Here's everything you need to know about the game.

Rennes team news
Bruno Genesio - affectionally named 'Pep Genesio' in France - is also contending with several injury issues, with the talented Croatian international Lovro Majer set to miss out with a hamstring problem.

Romain Salin and Loic Bade are similarly doubts for the French side, although Lesley Ugochukwu could make his return for the trip to Leicester. Jeremy Gelin will not feature.

Leicester vs Rennes score prediction
The return to form from Rodgers' side in recent weeks has been much welcomed by the Foxes faithful, although they rode their lucky massively in their 1-0 victory over Leeds at the weekend.

The potential absence of Maddison will be a significant blow for Leicester, although it could be offset by the recent return of Jamie Vardy from injury.

Given Leicester's vulnerability on the defensive front this campaign the game is likely to promise plenty goals.

Prediction: Leicester 2-2 Rennes
