Международный театральный фестиваль им. А.П. Чехова — это международный театральный фестиваль, проходящий раз в два года в Москве. Более 600 спектаклей из 51 страны мира были представлены в программах фестиваля. Генеральный директор – Валерий Иванович Шадрин.

Первый фестиваль состоялся осенью 1992 года. «Фестиваль — затея не праздная. Это свидетельство нашей решимости существовать в открытом, не знающем границ пространстве культуры». Так определил назначение фестиваля его первый президент К.Ю. Лавров.

The Chekhov International Theatre Festival was established by the International Confederation of Theatre Associations. In the 25 years of its history the Festival has been undergoing considerable changes while still trying to become a joyful and longed for event for all those who love theatre.
‘Art theatre for everyone’, a motto by Giorgio Strehler, the famous Italian director, remains abiding and actual for the Chekhov Festival. Our main idea is continually widening the audience, making theatre be longed for by the people of different background, and before all – the thinking part of our society who has always been attracted by the theatre throughout the history. We try to organize the program of the festivals to be accessible for everyone and somewhat elitist too. And it is also important that theatre professionals could find within the Festival what is necessary for them, for they could feel like part of the world theatre process.

3 декабря после продолжительной болезни не стало Валерия Ивановича Шадрина, создателя Международного театрального фестиваля им. А. П. Чехова, президента Международной конфедерации театральных союзов. Сердце разрывается. Слов нет. И целого мира мало, чтобы передать всю боль утраты.

5 декабря с 11:00 до 12:30 будет проходить прощание с Валерием Шадриным в Театре им. Моссовета (ул. Большая Садовая, дом 16, стр.1).

С 9:00 до 10:30 можно передать цветы и венки в Театр им. Моссовета.

В 13:00 состоится отпевание в Храме Большое Вознесение (ул. Большая Никитская, дом 36, стр.1).

В 15:00 начнется церемония погребения на Троекуровском кладбище (ул. Рябиновая., вл.24).

Valery Shadrin, the creator of the Chekhov International Theatre Festival and president of the International Confederation of Theatre Associations left us on December 3rd, 2022.
No words can fully describe our feelings. We are grieving. Hearts are broken. Tears are words the heart can express.

Public visitation will be held from 11.00 to 12.30 on December 5th at the Mossoviet Theatre (Bolshaya Sadovaya st., 16, building 1).

Floral tributes / wreaths will be accepted at the Mossoviet Theatre from 9.00 to 10.30.

A funeral service will be held in his honor at 13.00 at the Temple of the Great Ascension (Bolshaya Nikitskaya st., 36 building 1).
The burial ceremony will be held at 15.00 at the Troekurovskoe cemetery (Ryabinovaya st., estate 24)
