🪷On May 7th, at the Grand Aula of the Romanian-American University, we celebrated the 21st anniversary of the "Angela Hondru" Romanian Japanese Studies Center.

🪷We were honored to welcome on stage, as a special guest of the Sogetsu Ikebana Peony Study Group, Sozan Nakamura Sensei Master Instructor at Sogetsu Headquarters. Sozan Nakamura Sensei presented a remarkable ikebana demonstration, an amazing experience that emphasized the unique style of the Sogetsu School with Sensei's recognizable special signature.

🪷One of the ikebana arrangements was presented in a vase made after a design by the former head of the Sogetsu School, Hiroshi Teshigahara.

🪷Also, for another ikebana arrangement, Sozan Nakamura Sensei invited Ms. Katae (a practitioner of the Sogetsu style) on the stage to add the final element.

Sensei.

🪭It was an honor to have with us last week, as a special guest, Master Tokutaro Hanayagi, professional Nihon-Buyo dancer, during the 2026 edition of the Japanese Cultural Days, organised by the Romanian-Japanese Study Center 'Angela Hondru', within the Romanian-American University.

🪭On May 6, at the Protocol Hall, a Nihon-Buyo workshop took place under the guidance of Master Hanayagi. During the workshop, participants learned about the history of the classical Japanese dance and had the opportunity to admire and handle traditional Japanese fans. Together with Master Hanayagi, participants learned how to move on the refined rhythms of Nihon-Buyo.

🪭It was a truly wonderful experience and a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of Japanese traditional arts.

On May 6, at the Senate Hall, an ikebana workshop took place under the guidance of Professor Nakamura. The workshop explored the following themes: arrangements composed exclusively of leaves, and freestyle arrangements. The works created by Sozan Nakamura Sensei, as well as those made by the workshop participants, were brought together in an exhibition displayed in the foyer of the Romanian-American University.
It was a truly magical experience, in the spirit of Sogetsu.
