Here at Zeyk Manor Arts Center, we are driven by a single goal; to restore this nearly lost 400 year old manor house in to the center of Transylvanian culture and arts that it was in its former glory. This beautiful manor house settled amongst the rolling hills of the Transylvanian plains just outside of Cluj-Napoca (H: Kolozsvár, DE: Klausenburg) is a rare gem that was horribly neglected during t
he Communist regime in Romania. Its rich 400 year heritage reflects the ownership by dukes and counts of the Bethlen, Zeyk and Sándor families. Moreover, it often served as an artistic hub with painters, sculptors, writers, musicians, photographers in residence. In fact, one of its former owners, Zeyk Miklós, was an early pioneer in the photograph developing process and one of the first to perfect the process of paper photo developing. Now we want to restore the manor and its heritage as a center for the arts. But we don't want to do it alone. Why would we, when there is a global audience of talent and innovation out there? Let's make it a global community project! Join the site and join the forums. Let's hear your ideas! It could be about design, it could be about construction, maybe potential uses for the building, or maybe it's about financing. Upload pictures. Download our pictures, annotate them and re-upload for all the community to see and add their own ideas. Here's an idea... if you're looking for a place to practice your skills, be it things like painting, restoration, construction, etc., maybe we can put together working groups. Anything is possible. Let's get together and do something really cool. And remember... during these times, the world needs the arts more than ever.
.. and that's what Zeyk Manor is all about.
