We've hosted a lot of really wonderful artists in the past year and a half but none that evokes as many emotional memories of our next artist...Shirlé Hale with her Dots and Grooves show. OPENING RECEPTION IS FRIDAY, MAY 2, 5-7PM AT FAVELA COFFEE CAFE

Shirlé loves giving a second life to unplayable vinyl records that might otherwise end up in a trash bin or landfill. Besides the visual elegance of the mandalas that she paints on them, there is the connection that music has played in one’s life which can ignite memories from days gone by.

People often remember the first time they heard a particular song, when they bought their first album and what was their first concert. They can remember who they were dating, where they were in life or perhaps what was happening in the world just by looking at a favorite album cover. Vinyl records are time capsules and the vinyl mandalas are a visual reminder of when times were simpler and the only thing that matter was music .

Never fear...we don´t give up!! We have found a wonderful, fun location for our community events for the foreseeable future. has welcomed us with open arms to use their space for our events. IN STITCHES, BOOK CLUB, NON FICTION BOOK CLUB, CINEMA SOCIETY AND THE IN WRITING WORKSHOP and BACKGAMMON will all be held of FAVELA CAFE at Travessa Das Lobas 16 in the Praca Bocage area. Dear Setúbal Community. Due to irreconcilable differences with the building owner at our current location, O Coletive will be temporarily closing as of Saturday,April 5, after the Artist Reception for Lisbon Photographer Wilfredo Benitez and his beautiful photographs.

All future events have been relocated or are temporarily on hold. You can find out the information for any new location on the Meetup event or here on our FB page so stay tuned.

In the meantime, please come out this Saturday evening at 7pm for Wilfredo's show. The photography is beautiful and mesmerizing. Let's show Wilfredo that Setúbal supports the artists who choose to come here to show their work. Thank you for all of your support. Monica and Mary

This month's feature of the Setubal Screen Society is END GAME (2018), a short documentary that explores the emotional and complex world of end-of-life care.

Directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, the film follows terminally ill patients and their families as they navigate the difficult decisions surrounding their final days and follows visionary medical practitioners who are working on the cutting edge of life and death and are dedicated to changing our thinking about both. 40 MINUTES.

Discussion follows led by Joy Goldman, Chair of the Setúbal Community for Aging & Dying Well, and Claire Massart, tsunami survivor and healer.

We're excited that our featured artist for April, photographer Wilfredo Benitez from Lisbon, is installing his show at O Coletivo today. His photographs are mesmerizing and intense, capturing scenes you didn't realize you were looking at. Come see his entire show OUT OF SILENCE, Saturday evening, April 5, 7-9pm.

In the spaces between Shadow and Light there is Silence. The photographs in this exhibit are contemplative in nature, and most were taken at the Igreja de Santa Maria de Graça, in the city of Setúbal.
