There were times when I doubted Eric Clapton. I asked myself whether he was truly someone worth admiring, whether the image I had in my mind matched the reality of the man.
But the more I followed his journey, the more I understood.
Eric Clapton is not perfect. His life has been filled with mistakes, struggles, and painful chapters. Yet it is exactly those experiences that make his story real. He did not become a legend by avoiding hardship, but by facing it — by falling, learning, and continuing forward.
As I looked deeper into his life — his dedication to music, his battles with addiction, the loss he endured, and the way he chose to turn pain into something meaningful — my doubts slowly disappeared. What remained was not blind admiration, but a deeper kind of respect.
Because to admire someone is not to believe they are flawless.
It is to see their truth and still believe in them.
And now, after understanding his story, I can say this with certainty:
I did not believe in the wrong person.
If anything, I understand him more — and respect him even more than before. 🎸
