During the Odivelas EGCA Champions League Qualification Stage, we had the chance to interview Petri Repo, the official speaker who brought the arena to life. 🤩🎤
Every great competition has a voice guiding the arena. In goalball, where silence sets the rhythm of the game, that voice carries special responsibility. Petri knows how to balance energy and respect, creating excitement without disturbing the focus of the athletes.
He began his international announcing career in 2010 with the Finnish Floorball Federation. In 2011, after announcing the Electric Wheelchair Floorball European Championships, he started long-term cooperation with the Finnish Paralympic Committee, working at almost every major international team sport event in Finland. Goalball became part of his journey in 2014 at the World Championships in Espoo, and from that moment, he has remained closely connected to the sport.
Over 19 years, Petri has built a reputation for bringing energy, clarity, and passion to every arena. Inspired by European football stadiums, he always ensures athletes hear their names loud and clear, creating an atmosphere that motivates players and excites the crowd. His style combines precision, rhythm, and versatility, never monotone, making every announcement feel alive.
He has announced at two Paralympic Games, Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024, Europa League football at Helsinki Olympic Stadium, the Women’s Floorball World Championship Final in 2015, and many other international tournaments. Despite these experiences, he remains hungry for more and believes that his biggest arenas are still ahead. 🌍
Petri is grateful to all the club leaders and organisations who have trusted him throughout his career, especially his long-term partners, the floorball teams Classic and ÅIF, and IF Gnistan in the Finnish Football League, which is particularly important to him because football is a very popular sport globally with large attendances. He also thanks Mauro Diogo for the opportunity to bring his voice to Portugal and contribute to the atmosphere of the Odivelas EGCA Champions League Qualification Stage.
He works freely in Finnish, English, and Swedish, seeing every event as an opportunity to showcase his talent. Most of his invitations have come from people hearing him live at competitions rather than through marketing or emails, proving that a strong voice and a well-done job remain the most effective introduction. For international events, organisers can contact him through Erkki Miinala or via Petri Repo’s page.
When asked to describe goalball in one sentence, he said that goalball is a strong and united community and he is proud to be part of it. 💙 His words capture the essence of the sport, teamwork, inclusivity, and respect, and reflect the vibrant atmosphere he helped create throughout the event.
Audiences in Odivelas experienced his voice live during the Qualification Stage, and his announcements helped set the tone, guide the pace of the game, and enhance the atmosphere of every match. From the opening to the final whistle, Petri Repo made sure the energy, focus, and excitement of the tournament were clearly communicated to all. 🙌
Thank you Petri Repo for sharing your voice, energy, and passion with everyone at the event. 💙🧡
