Why Art Tart?

In almost half a century of being on planet Terri, I’ve had an obsession, at some point, with most mediums. Most artists narrow it down to one but (yes you guessed it) not me! I do like to play with a few! As a result I do have several passions in this realm. I have however managed at least to narrow it down to a single task as it were, making a space beautiful. Be it a home or an event I’m the girl to make the wedding, the party, the living room, your office (whatever it may be) take on an energy all of its own.

My main stay living is something I adore. To take old tired wooden articles; furniture, doors, windows frames and shutters (along with any other interesting carved or crafted wood that I’m inspired by) and lovingly breath a life into them once again. I love unusual finishes, deep colours, metallic shines and pretty natural wood grains: using them all to create beautiful one off pieces for your treasured home. I also carefully restore old pieces back to their former glory with either fabulous flat paint finishes, stripping, sanding, waxing or varnishing. I often incorporate fine glass art into this area of my work. More often than not, I have realised, depicting dragons and trees!

I enjoy painting canvases (mostly abstract and tribal) and have never really tried to sell them, yet I frequently do. Usually to a person who feels the painting and so unwittingly, or otherwise, connects with the emotion behind it. I do so love light and colour and to create depth and texture using them. My fe**sh for metallics, especially gold, often adds a bright luxurious twist to these pieces. Great paintings for homes and businesses. You can even choose your own colour pallet for commissioned pieces.

So you may well have gathered that I love painting! But...I have to say; especially BIG! I’ve spent much of my career painting murals, backdrops (much of it psychedelic fantasy style as well as commissioned theatre drops) and mastering the art of sign writing (Theres something so inherently beautiful about written letters and words) It seemed the perfect option for me as a youngster because I experiencing and being utterly inspired by the UK festival scene and music generally. This blending of passions lead to 30 years freelancing for many contemporary Arts and Music Festivals around the world.
