In this episode, Eleonora Fedi, an interior designer and lecturer at .pt, talks about her role as a local curator for Porto Design Biennale and the work carried out in the area prior to the arrival of the design teams.

Through visits, meetings, conversations and listening exercises, a collective body of knowledge was built up which would go on to shape the development of the Happisodes 🫂

A reflection on the mediating role of the Local Curatorship and on the importance of building bridges between people, institutions, communities and designers.

Some collaborations continue to grow far beyond the moment they began.

Launched as part of the Pole Pole initiative, the partnership with CIIMAR brought together scientific research, design and the community through Algaerium 🌊

From Pole Pole to the tables at Hours For What We Will, this was a collaboration that continued to find new ways of inhabiting the present.

Neste episódio, Cláudia Lopes fala sobre a colaboração com o CIIMAR e sobre a forma como a identidade marítima de Matosinhos atravessou o projeto: da recolha de algas na praia ao herbário e ao algário, da partilha de receitas entre gerações à criação de uma fanzine e das bandeiras que assinalaram o momento de celebrar.

Um percurso construído a partir do lugar, das pessoas e das relações que nele continuam a crescer.

In Pole Pole, the local area was also part of the programme 🌊

In this episode, Cláudia Lopes talks about the collaboration with CIIMAR and how Matosinhos’ maritime identity ran through the project: from collecting seaweed on the beach to the herbarium and the seaweed collection, from sharing recipes across generations to creating a fanzine, and from the flags that marked moments of celebration.

A journey shaped by the place itself, the people and the relationships that continue to flourish there.

Como se constrói um programa para uma arquitetura cujo nome significa devagar, devagar?

Neste episódio, Cláudia Lopes, Artista Plástica, apresenta o trabalho de mediação artística desenvolvido no Pole Pole e a forma como o programa foi pensado a partir de três gestos essenciais: cuidar, partilhar e celebrar.

Ao longo de um mês, meninas do Internato Nossa Senhora da Conceição e residentes do Lar Sant'Ana encontraram na música um primeiro ponto de contacto, dando início a um processo de descoberta mútua que foi crescendo através do tempo passado em conjunto 🫂

Porque, por vezes, desenhar o comum começa simplesmente por criar espaço para estar.

How do you design a programme for an architectural space whose name means ‘slowly, slowly’?

In this episode, Cláudia Lopes, a visual artist, presents the artistic mediation work carried out at Pole Pole and explains how the programme was conceived around three key principles: caring, sharing and celebrating.

Over the course of a month, girls from the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Boarding School and residents of the Sant’Ana Care Home found a first point of connection through music, kick-starting a process of mutual discovery that grew as they spent time together 🫂

Because sometimes, finding common ground simply begins with creating space to simply be.

Neste episódio, Matali Crasset fala sobre as personagens que desenhou para habitar os espelhos do New Diner. Figuras inspiradas nos azulejos originais do restaurante que convidam quem entra a imaginar outras histórias, outras presenças e outras possibilidades.

Porque, para além das ferramentas que criamos, existe também aquilo que somos capazes de imaginar em conjunto.

What if a space could spark the imagination? 🧿

In this episode, Matali Crasset talks about the characters she designed to inhabit the mirrors of the New Diner. Figures inspired by the restaurant’s original tiles that invite those who enter to imagine other stories, other presences and other possibilities.

Because, beyond the tools we create, there is also what we are capable of imagining together.
