MLEKO (UK) | ESTREIA EM PORTUGAL

Há uma turbulência particular a fervilhar em Manchester. Não a chuva incessante ou o zumbido estático de um passado pós-industrial, mas algo mais estranho, ágil e evasivo.

Os MLEKO são um septeto que torce, uiva e nos mantém à beira do precipício.

O grupo descreve o seu som como “Gub Rock”, um género inventado que é mais um encolher de ombros do que uma afirmação. Já foram descritos como post-punk, art rock, post-rock, alt rock e prog rock, até ao ponto em que também eles se perderam no meio de tantas definições. Chamem-lhe art punk, post everything ou noise com um toque de folk e metais. Os MLEKO são um gigante articulado que mantém tudo estranho, belo e alegre.

No Sonus, apresentam o EP de estreia, The Feast of St. Perpetua, editado em maio deste ano.

MLEKO (UK) | PORTUGAL DEBUT

There’s a distinct turbulence frothing in Manchester. Not the sideways forever-rain or the static hum of a post-industrial hangover, but something stranger, lither, and more evasive. MLEKO are a seven-piece that twist, howl, and hold you over the edge with ever-so-slightly clammy hands.

The band describe their sound as “Gub Rock”, which, like all good made-up genres, is more of a shrug than a statement. They have been described as post-punk, art rock, post-rock, alt rock and prog rock, to the point where they too have become lost in all the definitions. Call them art-punk, call them post-everything, call them metalified neo-folk noise wizards with a brass fe**sh. MLEKO is an articulate goliath that keeps it weird, beautiful and joyous.

At Sonus, they will present their debut EP, The Feast of St. Perpetua, released in May this year.

cowboyy (UK) | Estreia em Portugal

Entre o math rock, o jazz e o post-punk, os cowboyy constroem o próprio universo. Com guitarras em primeiro plano e uma abordagem livre à composição e à colaboração, o trio britânico procura desafiar convenções.

Depois de dois anos de pausa, regressam agora com uma nova formação, juntando os membros originais Stan Powell (guitarra e voz) e Kai Smith (baixo) a Dan Haysom na bateria. Os mais recentes singles “melancholy”, “the chair mountain” e “chewing” antecipam revocder, o novo EP, com lançamento previsto para 25 de setembro.

Between math rock, jazz and post-punk, Cowboyy build their own universe. With guitars at the forefront and a free approach to composition and collaboration, the British trio strive to challenge conventions.

After a two-year hiatus, they return with a new line-up, bringing original members Stan Powell (guitar and vocals) and Kai Smith (bass) together with Dan Haysom on drums. Their latest singles, “melancholy”, “the chair mountain” and “chewing”, precede revocder, their new EP, set for release on September 25.

Already woven into the history of the legendary The Windmill, Cowboyy were included in the NME 100 List and have earned recognition from names such as Jack Saunders, Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Matt Wilkinson and Zane Lowe, as well as publications including DIY, Clash, Dork and So Young Magazine.

A sua sonoridade habita num universo art pop, inclinando-se para um espaço experimental e inovador, onde há lugar para melodias místicas, texturas inspiradas no rock e no jazz, e paisagens sonoras em constante mutação.

Entre o visceral e o elegante, o onírico e o direto, elementos acústicos e eletrónicos, fundindo tudo com a sua voz etérea e incisiva.

Recentemente, Leonor Arnaut editou os seus singles de estreia, “Vida Cega” e “Avé, Raposa”, através da CANTO, que fazem parte do seu álbum de estreia, com lançamento previsto para o final deste ano.
