The cinematographer Dan Laustsen will be in Espinho !

Dan Laustsen is a three-time Academy Award–nominated cinematographer with over 60 international productions. He is widely known for his long collaboration with Guillermo del Toro, earning Oscar nominations for The Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley, and Frankenstein. His work also includes the visually striking John Wick films, combining elegant lighting with high-energy action. More recently, he expanded into musicals with The Color Purple (2023).

We are truly honored to have him at FEST, and he is just one of the big names we’ll be announcing in the coming days.

Abrimos a 22ª edição do FEST com o Vencedor do Urso de Ouro na Berlinale deste ano, Yellow Letters, o filme que se segue ao grande sucesso "A Sala de Professores" na carreira do realizador alemão İlker Çatak!

/Professor da Universidade de Ancara, Aziz recebe a "carta amarela" que o informa arbitrariamente da revogação do seu contrato. Quando a sua mulher, Derya, uma conceituada actriz do teatro nacional, também a recebe, o casal dá por si numa situação aflitiva. Condenados pelas suas crenças, são obrigados a refugiar-se em Istambul, em casa da mãe de Aziz. O equilíbrio entre esta nova situação precária e o seu compromisso político virá pôr à prova a união do casal.

Este que promete ser um dos filmes mais essenciais do ano, abre as hostes para aquela que garantimos vir a ser uma edição memorável!

O FEST volta a associar-se à marca espinhense Ferreira de Sá na sua 22ª edição!

O Grande Prémio Nacional Ferreira de Sá terá o valor de 1.500€ e irá ser entregue à curta que se destacar da seleção de 22 já anunciada!

Fundada em 1946, em Silvalde, Espinho, a Ferreira de Sá é uma marca de design e produção integralmente realizados em Portugal. A empresa mantém-se enraizada na mesma vila costeira onde a sua abordagem ao fazer ganhou forma. Nesta região do norte do país, o gesto do nó pertencia outrora às redes de pesca, antes de se tornar parte da prática têxtil. O material mudou. A disciplina permaneceu.

The production designer Sarah Greenwood and the set decorator Katie Spencer will be in Espinho!

Working together, they have been nominated seven times for the Academy Awards, recognized for their work on a wide range of films, including "Pride & Prejudice", "Atonement", "Sherlock Holmes", "Anna Karenina", "Beauty and the Beast", "Darkest Hour" and, most recently, Greta Gerwig’s "Barbie".

We are truly honored to have them at FEST for the first time, and they are just two of the major names we’ll be announcing in the coming days.

The Bosnian film director and screenwriter Danis Tanović will be in Espinho!

Award-winning director and one of the most prominent voices in European cinema, Danis Tanović made history with "No Man’s Land" (2001), an iconic film about the Balkan War that earned him the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. A Bosnian filmmaker and screenwriter, Tanović began his studies in Sarajevo before completing them in Brussels during the Yugoslav Wars. His debut feature not only captivated global audiences but also won the Palme d’Or for Best Screenplay at Cannes. He later continued his acclaimed career with films like "An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker" (2013), which received major recognition at the Berlin International Film Festival.

We are truly honored to have him at FEST for the first time, and he is just one of the big names we’ll be announcing in the coming days.

On June 24, the 4th edition of the Sound & Music Hub will take place at . In this special edition, we are delighted to welcome an exceptional line-up of international talent in sound and music for cinema, including the composer Harry Escott.

With a rich history of creative collaboration across the arts, Escott is a BAFTA, BIFA and RTS award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his scores for films by Michael Winterbottom, Steve McQueen and Clio Barnard.

He will be part of a full line-up of speakers for the Training Ground Masterclasses, which will be announced in the coming days.
