1.2 mile/1.9 km swim; 56-mile/90.1 km bike; 13.1 mile/21.1 km run With its mild climate, 3000 hours of sunshine per year, Portugal has always been the perfect destination for family holidays and is now in the series with an IRONMAN and 70.3 events. Cascais, with more tha

n 650 years of history, is just a 20 minute drive from Lisbon International Airport and is located between Sintra - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - and the Village of Oeiras. Competitors will take in the best Cascais can offer, starting the swim in front of the Fortaleza da Cidadela, the most spectacular bay in Portugal. Originating in Cascais, bike course runs alongside the Ocean, a fast and flat part of this very beautiful landscape. The course also covers stunning natural scenery in the Sintra forests and a lap inside Formula One Estoril Circuit. The run course goes along Guincho road, goes back to the centre of Cascais, side by side with historic houses, palaces and fortresses of bygone times. This is one of the most beautiful race courses ever designed for a triathlon. A place to be part of the most amazing experience of an athlete’s lifetime.

The Manueline style, which we can see in the Belém Tower or the Jerónimos Monastery, and other monuments along the race route, developed during the reign of King Manuel I, at the height of the Portuguese maritime expansion. There are elements such as shells, ropes, coral, leaves, artichokes, animals, imaginary and exotic beings from the epic of the great seas that cover windows, doors, arcades, columns, and rose windows.
The armillary sphere, a symbol of royal power, and the cross of the order of Christ, a symbol of divine power, are the most important motifs in Manueline art.
