A 3.ª edição do INDEX intersetou arte e tecnologia para desafiar o público a refletir sobre a progressiva redefinição das relações de poder.

Entre 7 e 17 de maio, a bienal ocupou vários espaços da cidade de Braga, numa programação multidisciplinar que incluiu espetáculos, conferências, uma exposição e atividades educativas.

The 3rd edition of INDEX brought together art and technology to challenge the public to reflect on the ongoing redefinition of power relations.

From May 7 to 17, the biennial took place across various venues in the city of Braga, featuring a multidisciplinary program that included performances, conferences, an exhibition, and educational activities.

A convite do INDEX, os Zabra estiveram no gnration a desenvolver Jeffthielmusk®. O espetáculo explora como a ficção do futuro se transforma num instrumento de poder, como o fascínio pelo impossível cria cultos contemporâneos e como a promessa tecnológica, através do uso da IA, pode funcionar como mecanismo de controlo social.

At the invitation of INDEX, Zabra visited gnration to develop Jeffthielmusk®. The show explores how fictional visions of the future become instruments of power, how a fascination with the impossible gives rise to contemporary cults, and how the promise of technology—through the use of AI—can function as a mechanism of social control.

Ainda a recordar a abertura do INDEX, que levou o público a conhecer as exposições nos vários espaços da cidade e a performance de Forensis com Bill Kouligas.

Na segunda semana da Bienal de Arte e Tecnologia, o programa de espetáculos traz a criação dos ZABRA e a dupla Nídia & Valentina ao gnration, assim como várias conferências ao Muzeu, ao site indexmediaarts.com e ao gnration. A exposição poderá ser visitada nos vários espaços da cidade.

O INDEX 2026 abriu oficialmente ontem com uma visita-percurso pelos vários espaços expositivos da cidade. Às 14:30, o momento inaugural teve lugar no gnration, e foi seguido da visita às exposições da artista Cemile Sahin no mesmo espaço. O público que acompanhou a abertura ficou a conhecer todas as peças expostas pelo Muzeu, pelo Theatro Circo, pelo Forum Arte Braga e pelo Mosteiro de Tibães.

O primeiro espetáculo da bienal levou ao palco do Theatro Circo o coletivo Forensis com Bill Kouligas, num exercício multisensorial que expandiu sobre o colonialismo alemão na Namíbia e os efeitos devastadores na fauna e na flora.

INDEX 2026 officially opened yesterday with a guided tour of the city’s various exhibition spaces. At 2:30 p.m., the opening ceremony took place at gnration, followed by a visit to the exhibitions by artist Cemile Sahin in the same space. The audience attending the opening got to see all the works on display at the Muzeu, Theatro Circo, Forum Arte Braga, and the Monastery of Tibães.

The biennial’s first performance brought the Forensis collective, featuring Bill Kouligas, to the stage of Theatro Circo in a multisensory piece that explored German colonialism in Namibia and its devastating effects on the local flora and fauna.
