Soooo we are all just sitting at home (many care for their families), why not spending few minutes to make a big difference and feed those who can not ask for help themselves? To feed one animal you will spend much less than buying a beer in a bar - they are all closed right now anyway.

I just love this initiative!

Can anyone beat Charlie Brown's smile? We have had no entries so far for our vírtual dog show so we are entering our dogs as a challenge!

`The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust VIRTUAL DOG SHOW 2020
The classes are as follows :
• Best Friends (pictures of dog with friends of any species)
• Pets working from/at home
• Most unusual sleeping positions
• Biggest smile
• “I sit where I want to” (making my owner unable to move)
• Most travelled dog
• Most compelling rescue/rehab story.
•The dog which made judge laughed the most

We shall be charging £2 per class entry.

To enter please email [email protected] with the following information:
1. Dogs name 2. Class/ classes you wish to enter. 3. Owners name 4. Owners email address 5. Confirmation of payment (please forward us the proof of payment, so we can match it to your entry) 6. Pictures of your pet (if you entering more than one class please clearly state which picture is an entry to which class)
Only emailed entries will be accepted! Only paid entries will be taking part in the show!
The results will be announced on Sunday 19th April.
The winner will receive: • Digital Winner’s certificate, with the winning photo! • 1 Year sponsorship of dog in our care (digital sponsorship certificate, emailed updates in Summer, at Christmas and Valentine’s Day) • An animal in our care will be named after the winning Dog (of each class)

Udało się napomknąć o VwHP podczas konferencji w Belfaście. Akurat przygotowując prezentację, zauważyłam, że w tym roku w programie Jenny również mówi o PPID :)

FUNDING FOR ESSENTIAL EQUINE HOSPITAL

My name is Emma Meadmore and I am the UK administrator for The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust. I have set up a campaign to raise funds for The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust to enable us to complete the building of an essential equine hospital in an urban area of The Gambia.

The centre is nearly built but funds are desperately needed to finish this ground breaking centre which will help to vastly improve the welfare of the working equines in this region. The centre will be significant by educating and increasing the Gambian veterinary capacity and providing training opportunities for overseas vets so that they can provide the support that these animals and their owners in this coastal region of the Gambia are sadly lacking. The equine hospital will provide stabling for 25 in-patients, offices, a visitor centre and a lecture room together with accommodation for volunteers, students and staff.

Here is what a contribution can help towards:

Installing solar power, fencing and poles, glass for windows, stable fittings including mosquito netting, paint, rubber matting, sand, cement, hay to fill the barn, wages for local labour, plumbing and electrical installations, transport costs. Our biggest expense will be £10,000 that is needed to roof the new stable blocks.

If you are able to help with a donation that would be wonderful, but at the very least please could I ask you to share the fundraising link with friends or on your social media pages so that as many people as possible know about it. There are so many animals in desperate need that do not have access to veterinary care and their owners are anxiously awaiting the opening of this centre so we need to get it done as soon as possible so that we can help to alleviate the problems with equine welfare that we see.
