Barred Rail (Hypotaenidia torquata or Gallirallus torquatus), known locally in the Philippines as the Tikling.

Habitat and Distribution: This species is found in Indonesia and the Philippines, typically inhabiting damp marshy grasslands, rice fields, and coastal swamps.

Physical Characteristics: It is identified by its black face with a distinct white stripe, dark red eyes, and a heavily barred black-and-white underside.

Cultural Significance: Locally known as the Tikling in the Philippines, this bird inspired the traditional Philippine folk dance called Tinikling, which mimics the
bird's movements through grass.

Diet: It is an omnivorous forager that primarily eats small invertebrates, insects, fish, tadpoles, seeds, and occasionally wild bird eggs
