ANTIQUE TO HOST THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL TRAIL RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Top PH Team Athletes, 30 Qualified Elites, and Asia-Pacific Invitees Set to Converge
Antique is set to take center stage as it proudly hosts the Philippine National Trail Running Championships, bringing together the country’s strongest trail runners, members of the Philippine National Team, and over 30+/- other qualified elite athletes from across the nation.
This landmark event carries special significance for the local community, as several of the Philippines’ top trail athletes hail from Antique. Their homecoming to compete on local terrain is expected to inspire the next generation of young athletes, showcasing what dedication, passion, and community support can achieve.
With the wide reach of our national athletes and the continued growth of the Philippine Trail Running Association (PHILTRA) on the global stage, the championships will shine a spotlight on Antique as a premier trail running destination. The event is anticipated to generate significant international attention as invited elite runners from across the Asia-Pacific region make their way to Antique to take on the challenging course and compete alongside Filipino athletes. Additional excitement is expected from the Open Category, where runners of various levels will join the action and experience world-class trail racing in the province.
“This is an opportunity not only to celebrate high-level competition but to empower local communities and inspire future champions,” organizers said. “Antique offers world-class terrain, and showcasing it through the National Championships places the province firmly on the global trail running map.”
The Open Category will serve as a World Mountain Running Cup (WMRC) affiliate race and a National Championship Qualifier, further elevating the event’s status. Alongside this, the race is sanctioned as an International Trail Running Association (ITRA) performance points event, enabling participants to earn points recognized worldwide.
PHILTRA, the national governing body for trail running in the Philippines, is an affiliate member of the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA). It is also the recognized national sports association of both the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) and the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA).
The Philippine National Trail Running Championships promises a dynamic, competitive, and community-driven celebration of the sport—one that highlights the strength of Filipino athletes and the natural beauty of Antique.
