Miss F Universe “Miss F” - is a gay parody of Miss Universe beauty pageant. It is the country’s only longest running "Category B” "Pamintahan" gay beauty pageant, since 2003. First suggested as an experiment. However due to its success, it became an annual event. The pageant’s original slogan is “Body, Beauty, Brain & Humor”. (“Category A pageant” is mostly for Transgenders and contestants who have undergone surgeries or have taken enhancements for female transformation. “Category B pageant” is mostly for Gay-Males, Bisexuals and for Straight-Acting Gay delegates. Sometimes, some pageants can be both.) The pageant is owned by Fahrenheit Cafe & Fitness Center, which is now F Philippines by Wilbert Tolentino, the country’s first Mr. Gay World representative in 2009 and a former I Am Pogay weekly finalist. Miss F Universe has two main competitions: Preliminary and Final. Preliminary Competition has three major segments: 1.) National Costume - competing for the concept and the essence of the costume of the country represented; 2.) Swimsuit - delegates are asked to wear women swimsuits, sometimes provided by the organizers, sometimes, by their personal choice; And lastly 3.) Evening Gown - Each was asked to provide their own evening gown depends on the year’s color motif. Final Competition has two portions: 1.) The Semifinals Question & Answer Portion and 2.) the Final Q & A Portion. Number of semifinalists and finalist vary every year. Finalists are judged by their spontaneity, eloquence, charm and articulateness. Sometimes, a Talent Competition Closed Door interview are added in an earlier and separate date. Winners, also called luminaries. They were given cash prizes from 30 to 50K, free club’s annual memberships and other perks and certificates from sponsors, sometimes a trip abroad. Miss F Universe 2013, CJ Cruz was the first luminary that was sent abroad, all expense paid, to compete for Queen International Pageant in Thailand, an international "Category A" gay pageant. Luminaries are obliged to attend the coronation a year after, and must provide a music video which will be directed and produced by the organizers. Miss F Universe is facilitated with a team of pageant specialists. Since 2007, Miss F is directed and written by Rogil Flores “The Beauty Queen Maker”. of Kagandahan Flores, a professional beauty pageant camp who trained MJ Lastimosa, Janicel Lubina, Carla Paula Henry, Jamie Harrel, Lara Quigaman, Bea Rose Santiago, etc. Ryan Soto, a licensed realtor, hosted the pageant from 2003 to 2006. He was also the music video director for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2013, 2014 & 2015. The music videos for Miss F are parodies of certain popular songs, lip synched by the luminaries. Some formats, designs, and concepts of the videos are based from the country of the current winner. The most expensive music video made is for Miss F Universe 2014, Eumir Cortes, which was taken at Intramuros, Boracay and El Nido, Palawan. Most music videos were taken outside a studio. 2004 and 2013 music videos were taken at the same beach resort in Lian Batangas, named Artro Resort Beach Resort owned by Troy Andaya. Kristine Caballero, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2002, has been hosting the pageant since 2008 - 2012 & 2015; However, Kevin Balot, Queen International Pageant 2013 winner, hosted 2013’s pageant. Gelbert Aplal is the official photographer and videographer. Jae Jae Palao is the script writer and choreographer. Chad Jonas, Melanie Cabalida and Rico Campo are the Production Assistants and Oliver Villacorta as the pageant video coverage director. Grounds for dethronement are the following as stated in the contract:
1.) Unable to attend next year’s coronation night.
2.) Unable to produce or be present for the music video shoot.
3.) Verified joining other contest without prior notice during the reign.
4.) Made any negative remarks and actions towards the club and its associates.
5.) Bad behaviour and attitude towards the club and its associates.
6.) Above all, unable to fulfil responsibilities and attend certain programs. Only Miss F Venezuela 2010 was dethroned due to this ground among the entire line up of Miss F Luminaries. Gaining weight, at least 20 pounds, is proposed to be a ground for dethronement.
