Hailing from Nueva Ecija, Eric M’s journey into the arts began in childhood, surrounded by the works of his artisan father—sculptures, santos, and the stately narra aparador that filled their antiquan home. This early immersion nurtured a deep appreciation for the arts and craft, later enriched by his studies in Architecture and Culinary Arts, and further refined through his training with Ballet Philippines under the tutelage of Lisa Macuja.

Eric’s profound connection to assemblage art emerged in Hong Kong, where he performed as a danseur at Hong Kong Disneyland. During quiet moments on Lantau Island, he gathered driftwood, intuitively transforming discarded fragments into poetic compositions. From these beginnings, his assemblages evolved into deeply symbolic works, unified under the theme “Patong Patong na Pangarap” — Dreams Upon Dreams.

Far from a narrative of deprivation, Eric’s art speaks of resilience, hope, and the layering of aspirations. Each piece is a meditation on how dreams, when stacked and intertwined, create structures of meaning—fragile yet enduring, humble yet transcendent.

“Am I doing this right? Am I wasting their time? Am I willing to try something that might help, even if I can’t guarantee the outcome?”

Just some of the thoughts I had going into KutisKada. Admittedly, I was really nervous about this project. I remember the times when I felt scared right before stepping onto the stage for our show. In improv we have this saying that “fear is just another form of excitement”. I still get a little bit scared right before every performance but the reframe really helps a lot.

I really feel strongly about improv’s potential to help patients who live with chronic illness, people like me, find agency in how we can respond when we can’t control the outcomes. It’s profoundly reframing acceptance with possibility.

And this doubt or fear that I feel, I think it’s a reflection of understanding the weight of what is being offered and the accountability that comes with it. And this stems from having lived experience. Of having our individual and shared stories bound by the same thread.

So am I doing this right? I don’t know. No one does, until we all try it together. The outcome may not be guaranteed but there is one thing I can promise - to learn alongside everybody.

I have psoriasis and improv has helped me live with it. I want to share a practice that I am still deepening myself. And I may not have all the answers and your experience will be different from mine, but my hope is that we will figure this out together.

I hope we get to explore different ways of taking risks, embracing uncertainty, and showing up authentically. So let’s all step into the circle and let’s navigate our own chronic illness - together.

Thank you for taking time to read this. I appreciate it.

Hi, ako si Toto and I have been living with psoriasis for about 15 years now. I have to admit, just like any other chronic illness, there have been a lot of difficult and frustrating moments when I nearly gave up. But there also have been kinder, gentler days. Big thanks to friends and family who have extended love and support. You guys know who you are. And friends, thank you for taking time to read this. Salamat.

I have had this dream for some time now of offering people living with psoriasis a safe space where we can support each other, share our stories and journeys, and build community all while playing and having fun.

I have this dream personal project to create an improv support program that can help people with chronic illness redefine what it is to live with their condition. To help build positive mindsets and support culture. To explore tools that can help us sit with discomfort, deal with uncertainty, create new self-narratives, foster empathy, etc.

So, dear friends, here's where I need your help. I am offering a free intro session this coming February 8, 2026 at 10AM Sunday. I am partnering with the kind folk at Nocturne Studio PH located at 63 Maginhawa St., Quezon City.

If you know someone who is living with the same condition and who might be interested in meeting new friends and discovering the joy of improv, please let them know. Thank you for helping me take this first step and for getting the word out. I really appreciate it. Maraming salamat! And if you are joining, I am very excited to get to meet you!
