The LGBTQIA+ community deserves more than just simple recognition. The community needs constant and consistent care to nurture its development and safety. It is not something that we can leave to chanceโ€”we, as students, need to ensure our consistent and direct involvement to ensure the upward progress of q***r rights and safer spaces within our university.

The inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community in administrative decision-making has been a constant struggle. While feats such as One Big Pride and Gender Hub do its part in allowing the q***r community to thrive, these would not have been achieved without past studentsโ€™ constant vigor in challenging traditional heteronormativity. These students have laid the essential foundations that allow our university to be more considerate of the needs of its LGBTQIA+ students and workers. However, we must never remain complacentโ€”we must be vigilant in reminding ourselves that the conversation has not ended, and the fight continues. Acknowledging that the LGBTQIA+ community still faces twice as much systemic discrimination under a capitalist society, we must co-struggle with the community and take better responsibility in ensuring that human rights of its members are respected and upheld.

Violations of safe spaces and gender policies are still present within our university. Many students and workers have filed cases of discrimination in relation to their SOGIESC that remain unanswered by our system. While it is incredibly important to acknowledge hhow far our university has come, we must also face the fact that our processes still have its lapses, leaving many students and workers vulnerable and unprotected. Colorful celebrations and events cannot change the fact that significant attention needs to be given to current processes that exist in our system.

Decisions that affect these institutions, in every master plan or initiative, have to adapt to the changing needs of their students. As the needs of the q***r community dialectically adapt to continuous changes in our society, our institutions must be ready for changes themselves, especially if it is for the betterment of the community.. It is within our power to continue asserting ourselves within the decision-making processes of our university, so that we may attain better conditions and better futures that was historically fought for by the q***r community.

โ€ผ๏ธMidterms elections starts May 12, next week!

Hey, fellow artists,

We know life's a hustle, but with the elections coming up, we just want to gently remind you: if you're able to voteโ€”please do.

It might not feel like it changes everything, but it does affect the stuff that matters to us: small biz support, funding for creative industries, taxes, public spaces, and other factors that influence whether local artists can actually afford to keep creating.

When you vote, you're choosing the kind of world creators get to exist in. Support folks who understand how it is to turn hustle into heart.

It's easy to feel like your voice gets lost. But it counts. Especially now. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Israel resumed all-out war on Gaza late Monday night. Heavy airstrikes and fire belts across the Strip have targeted homes, tents and shelters all at once, martyring a yet-to-be-determined number of Palestinians. Initial reports indicate the number of casualties is high, with multiple schools in north Gaza being leveled, along with a large family house in Deir al-Balah and displacement tents near Rabat College, west of Khan Younis.

Tonightโ€™s attacks, carried out with the full backing of the US government, come after Israel refused to abide by the original terms of the ceasefire, which was supposed to enter phase 2 at the beginning of March. Instead, for the last two weeks, Israel has completely cut off humanitarian aid, fuel and electricity and carried out countless killings of Palestinians across the Gaza Strip.

The US, Canada and Europe, still dripping with the blood of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from nearly 500 days of genocide directly funded and endorsed by their leaders, appear poised to continue their support for Israelโ€™s genocide. Our movementโ€™s demand in this moment is a total arms embargo on Israel, and nothing less.

The renewal of all-out war comes against the backdrop of further escalations in the West Bank, as Israel moves forward with its plans for annexation, and the expanded attacks on the Palestine movement in the US. The objective is clear: genocide, ethnic cleansing, and liquidation of the Palestinian struggle with silence from the world.

It is incumbent upon every person of conscience, from wherever they are, to refuse to accept genocide as normal or business-as-usual, to take to the streets, and to stop the wheels of this mass killing machine in its tracks. Together, the people of the world will achieve a total arms embargo against Israel. We can, we must, and we will confront this moment and what it requires of us. We will never abandon Palestine, for doing so would be to abandon ourselves.

ARMS EMBARGO NOW.
