Gloria Romero, also known as the "First Lady of Philippine Cinema" or the "Queen of Philippine Cinema", is a Filipino actress whose career spans over 70 years and includes more than 250 acting credits. Born as Gloria Anne Borrego Galla on December 16, 1933, in Denver, Colorado, she has a Filipino father and an American mother. Gloria started her acting career in the 1950s and quickly became one of the most popular actresses in the Philippines. She is famous for her sophisticated and demure image and has acted in a range of genres, from romantic comedies to religious-family dramas.

Gloria Romero has won numerous awards throughout her career, including two International Film Festival Manhattan Awards, six FAMAS Awards (considered the "Oscars" of the Philippines), three Gawad Urian Awards (given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, a film critics' group), and three Luna Awards (given by the Film Academy of the Philippines). She has also received numerous honorary lifetime achievement awards.

Some of Gloria Romero's most famous films include "Dalagang Ilocana" (1954), which earned her the first FAMAS Award for Best Actress, "Nagbabagang Luha" (1988), for which she received a FAMAS Award for Best Supporting Actress, "Tanging Yaman" (2000), for which she won her second FAMAS Award for Best Actress, and "Iginuhit ng Tadhana" (2016), a biopic of former Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos.

Gloria Romero is still active in the entertainment industry today, appearing in both films and television shows. She is an icon of Philippine cinema and is considered one of the greatest Filipino actresses of all time.

Here are some additional facts about Gloria Romero: she is the only living Filipino actress who can claim to have been a movie queen during the 1950s and still appears in a 2006 film; she was married to actor Juancho Gutierrez for many years, and has a daughter named Maritess Gutierrez, who also tried acting briefly. Gloria is also a devout Catholic.
