Wifibody Workshop Series: Workshop No. 2 - Dramaturgy

The workshop opened with a sharing of practice by Jaya Jacobo, offering the participants an introduction and context for dramaturgy within contemporary performace-making. This was followed by a workshop-laboratory session with the competition finalists and Benilde BPAD students, who engaged in practical dramaturgical exercises and critical discussions with the dramaturgs.

The Wifibody New Choreographers Competition’s 2nd workshop on Dramaturgy was held last June 8, 2026, hosted by the De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde. The session featured poet, writer, and dramaturg Jaya Jacobo, together with fellow dramaturgs Lee Lim and Olive Nieto from the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts, University of the Philippines Diliman. It was also attended by this year’s WifiBody PH core team: Al Garcia, Nicole Primero, and Ricca Bautista.

1st session of the workshop series was over!

Jared Jonathan Luna, a 2018 WifiBody finalist, led the “Performance and Performativity” workshop as part of the workshop series of the WifiBody.PH 2026.

The workshop revolved around how a performance is more than just the choreography itself but more about making experiences between the performer and the audience.

The session was filled with introductions, discussions, exchanges, and snacks! As said by AL Garcia, one of the Artistic Directors of WifiBody.PH 2026, learning can be chill but still effective.

Watch out on the next updates of this year’s WifiBody.PH choreography competition! A competition where community comes first!

CALL FOR ENTRIES | Wifibody 2026

New Choreographers Competition returns - a platform dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging Filipino choreographers.
For 2026, we invite choreographers to engage with conditions of connection.

How do bodies relate to one another, to systems, to time, and to attention? Connection today is rarely optional, with conditions that are both personal and systemic, local and global - and movement is where they unfold.

We encourage choreographers to take a position.
What is the body willing to stay with?
