LOOK UP. THAT'S WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENED.

This is what happens when 66 Ilonggos decide trash deserves better.

The sky has never looked more alive.

This video hit us right in the feels.

Watch tatays teaching their kids the same kite tricks their own tatays taught them.
See nanayas guiding little hands through knots they learned decades ago.
Witness the moment a 7-year-old realizes trash can be MAGIC.

April 25 wasn't just about the competition.

It was about dads reliving their childhood.
Kids creating their future.
Generations connecting over plastic bags and bamboo sticks.

The best part? That look on their faces when they realize: "WE MADE THIS. TOGETHER."

This is what Basuranggola is all about.

Not just flying kites. Flying memories.

JOHN PAUL FULLON DOES IT AGAIN!

The BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPION just secured ₱15,000 and LEGENDARY status!

His unicorn kite didn't just fly, it DOMINATED the Iloilo sky against 65 incredible kiters. Last year's champion proving it wasn't beginner's luck. This is MASTERY.

To John Paul: You've officially become the person everyone needs to beat. Enjoy that target on your back lol (and that ₱15k in your pocket)!

To all 65 kiters who showed up: You didn't just compete. You saved thousands of plastics from our landfills. You inspired kids. You proved that creativity and environmental action can coexist beautifully.

EVERYONE who flew a kite last Saturday is a winner in our book.

Congratulations, kiters! Year3 was LEGENDARY!

Today, we honor the working class. The backbone of this nation. The people who show up, roll up their sleeves, and GET IT DONE.

And last Saturday? We saw exactly that.

These are the faces of Basuranggola Year 3.

The tatay who woke up at 5 AM after working night shift just to bring his kids.
The nanay who chose this over her only day to rest because "importante ini."
The ate working at the mall who saved every chip bag from her lunch breaks.
The kuya driver who collected plastics from passengers for three months.
The lola selling at the market who told everyone about the event.
The student juggling school and part-time work who still found time to create.
The construction worker who spent his Sunday under another scorching sun, this time by choice.

They didn't have to be there. But they chose to be.

So today, we celebrate YOU.
The ones who braved the heat.
The ones who turned discarded wrappers into flying art.
The ones who prove that environmental action isn't just for the privileged, it's for EVERYONE.

You are the heart and soul of Basuranggola.
You are the heart and soul of this nation.
Salamat gid. For your labor. For your love. For showing up.
Happy Labor Day, mga kaBasuranggolas. Rest well. You've earned it.

AFTER RESTING FOR A FEW DAYS... (And recovering from sunburn)

Here are some snaps that will transport you back to Saturday (April 25, 2026) when we collectively decided to fly kites under what can only be described as the SURFACE OF THE SUN.

45 degrees. FORTY-FIVE.

But did that stop our amazing kiters? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

They showed up. They flew. They conquered. They probably melted a little.

Look at these LEGENDS braving the heat, turning trash into triumph, and proving that when Ilonggos commit to something, not even hell-temperature weather can stop us.

To every single kiter who sweated through the event: SALAMAT GID! You're tougher than the plastic you recycled.

To everyone who stayed, who cheered, who believed in this crazy idea of flying trash in apocalyptic heat: We see you. We love you.

Basuranggola Year 3 is officially in the books. And it was FIRE. Literally.
